Gas Milage for 03 OZ

Hello,

Was just wondering how many miles y'all are getting on a tank in your OZ. Mine is stock automatic and getting around 200 miles per tank, was just wondering what others are getting.

200 is pretty bad. I don't have the OZ but my ES has the same engine and transmission, so to give you something to compare with my car usually gets 250-275ish miles per tank if I don't get on it too much, and that's with wider tires than stock. If I'm in a hurry all week, 200 does happen though. You may want to change the plugs: NGK regular or V-power work great. I've got NGK Irridium but if I had to buy plugs again, I wouldn't say they made that noticeable of a difference, they probably just last longer and run barely smoother. Take a look at your air filter, and maybe consider some fuel system cleaner.

Ya'll are getting horrible gas milage. I was getting 230 to a half a tank and 350 to the little yellow light. Averaging 35-38 MPG. And that was with my scarred valves so I had fouled plugs from burning oil like crazy. I do have a five speed though but I really wouldn't think it would make THAT big of a difference. Thats huge!!! I did have some lightly spirited driving in there too. Whats the deal?

I usually get to about 300 to a full tank driving in town, about 350 if I do interstate. i do some spirited driving also. My 01 Mirage with the 1.8 got right at 200 to a full tank, it was auto. 250 if I was lucky, same with my 93 Mirage/Summit. Your about right with the automatic. My 04 gets about 200 to 250 also.

330 is as far as i've gone, I very rarely get below 300 to a tank, except after track days

If i remember correctly, I'm getting above 400km/tank, usually closer to 500km. However I haven't had the car for very long, so I don't have very detailed "statistics" yet. This is mostly city driving.

I get about 300-350 to a tank on 10lbs of boost. It all depends on how hard I push my car.

So the tranny must make a diff then. I am surprised there would be that big a difference. I know sticks are supposed to get better gas mileage but whoa. Thats crazy difference.

400km is only like 248 miles. I do think I should change the spark plugs and wires though. Is there anything else that should change to effect gas milage, car has like 97000 miles on it and original owner never changed anything, not even the timing belt.

I hired a crazy mechanic to change the spark plugs and he only changed 2 , said the car only had two because only two wires, I didnt know any better at the time either. Anyway will just buy the tools and try to do it myself, From my reading it seems the irridium spark plugs are good and do not gap them so less cmplicated for novice like me. What about the wires though sould I buy the NGK or the Magnacore? I see the magnacore cost four as much (100bucks compared to 27 bucks) but is it worth the higher price?

I'm about the same... I've had the car for 4 years now and it's pretty much been the same all along... I definitely get more mileage when I drive the highway for long distances, but I don't do that often because I'm always around the city for work...

I've also heard that standard gets more mileage than automatic, but I didn't think it would make such a significant difference... I drive standard and I'm satisfied with what I get... not to say that if it was better I wouldn't be happy

Hello,

I must say I dont know how far it could go untill the light comes on as have never tried since I live in AZ and have no intention of running out of gas here as its to hot for that out here. Anyway, I just fill it up before the light comes on but for example right now the needle is between a 1/4 tank and empty and the car has been 196 miles. I think yall are right though and most likley I need to change the plugs and wires but does anyone know of any other parts I should change while Im at it.

New air filter, seafoam, B12 chemtool injector cleaner. Btw, some people outside of this site will tell you to change your fuel filter. Ill save you the hassle, your car doesnt have one. Its a screen in the pump which is in the tank and apparently rarely needs to be changed. Hope your oil is 5-30 weight also. Thats the recommended oil and alot of people run 10-40 who dont know any better. That would affect your mileage too. Oh and petition congress to get this ethanol crap out of our fuels. That would make me so much happier and my car too. Make sure your MAF is completely clean as well. I knew someone who had a gunked up MAF and once he cleaned it, he got better power and mileage. Anything Im forgetting? I know there are a couple.

150-170 miles with e85

And I believe the actual fuel filter is on the passenger side
