Headlight Help!!!
Ok so I replaced my front headlight bulbs witht those blue-ish colored ones a while ago (They were like 40.00 bucks) . Almost evertime I started my car and turned my headlights on one of them would be dimmed out so I would pop the hood and toggle it, and it would come on. Well yesterday I did the same thing and I noticed the left side was smoking. I took off the thing that has the wires and connects to the bulb and it was melted! The whole inside is also corroded to ****. The other side is also getting there too.
My question is this: If I swicth back the stock bulbs and take it to the dealer will they cover it? If not where should I order the parts from?

How do you think they'll be able to tell? I just called them and I am bringging it in at 10:30. I am gonna put the stock ones back in and move them around alot so the corrosion goes on to the stock ones.

The lights didn't screw my car up. Turns out the wiring came loose right before the connector and chris-croosed another wire and cuased the burning. So don't be hating me for that. Not my fault.

you could get cheaper harnesses than the APC ones. u could get a pair of new harnesses for about 15 bucks in a car shop. but if you wanna go for the stronger ones like xtremeEvo suggested, spend the extra money.. no need to take it to mitsubishi just for a minor problem like that..

They should be able to tell what happened.....You can't run higher Watt bulbs on this car without upgrading the harness. Eventually they will melt the harness and could start a fire! I recommend just getting new harnesses that can handle the load, cause we all know if the dealer does fix it for free, you'll put those bulbs back in again.

They realistically should void this one, as the bulbs are what caused the problem, but like the law goes, they have to PROVE that and considering he doesn't have the bulbs in anymore, they have to honor it.

Upgraded harnesses are good and all, butt the wiring that you connect the upgraded harness to is still going to be undersized. I do believe that the stock wiring can handle higher wattage bulbs anyway.

i am pretty positive that the stock wiring can handle higher wattage bulbs as fkrzo stated. if you take it to mitsu electrical problems are very hard to get under warranty. i just had a new ECU put in my car and it took two weeks of harrassing the NCR and mitsu to do it for free (which they did), but if they can tell that you yourself caused the problem, then they will definately not cover this. my problem was i have tweeters in my cubby hole that mitsu claimed caused a magnetic field and toasted my ECU, but i got infinity involved to back me up and finally prove to mitsu they were wrong and this is impossible. just upgrade your harnesses first and see what happens, sorry to hear about your problem.....
