----Help input needed-----

I got out of work today, warmed my car up and when i went to tap the gas it shot up to 2.5k rpm then just died. I was like wtf is going on, then when i got off the highway i was barely gassin 3rd gear and then it started slightly bucking.

Im wondering weather its the $hitty gas from sheetz, but i put 89 in all the time, or clogged injectors, or possibly clogged fuel filter

Then when i get to the light it keeps missing idle, every time bouncing to 800-300 rpm then i tap the gas and it hesitates for a milisecond, then finally jacks up the rpms.

ANY Input will be greatly appreciated

Could be bad gas. Sheetz gas defintely isn't the best. I am originally from WV, and that stuff always made my truck run like crap. I'd say next time you gas up, dump in some good injector cleaner, and get some Chevron or Exxon 93 Octane. If that doesn't do it, then it could be your fuel filter, could be a lot of things. It's really hard to say, but definitely dump in some good injector cleaner. It can't hurt to try that. Hope this helps.

I don't understand how bad gas is the issue. The car doesn't require anything more than 87 unless you have an ECU reflash or you're boosting. How much fuel did you have in the tank when all this occured? Could've been a starvation issue.

Well, bad gas is different than low octane. I doubt your injectors are gummed up, but if it makes you feel better...

Bucking usually has to do with accel fuel curves. The stock ECU actually has some pretty damn good ones, but it is possible to overwhelm it if you get on it too hard from very low/no throttle or if . It seems unlikely that this was the case though. Try buying your fuel from a different place next time, but you don't really need a higher octane mix.

Oh and I'm changing the name of the thread to better explain the subject.

Last time I had a car start bucking on me (was a trans am) it was the ECU dying. But the reason for that was when the ECU dies, the fuel runs super rich. I doubt your ecu died this early (unless you were pouring out black smoke at the end of that driving session), but maybe the sensor was getting bad messages. This could be a number of things (vacuum lines, intake, electrical short). Just out of curiosity, did the "better" gas fix the problem?

If this happens to anyone else, start by checking your gas cap. Make sure it's good and tight, or the pump could have trouble pulling fuel from the tank. Even the manual says something about that, I think.

Never thought about that, but it does make sense. No cap means no pressure and less suction. Thanks Sailorgoon!

Yeah, the OBDII system is very sensitive. Usually it'll toss a CEL after a little driving though.
