Reverse lights not working
Reverse lights not working
Ok I know this seems simple enough but I can't figure this out. My reverse lights are not working. The bulbs both look fine (fillament still intact), I've checked every damn fuse I can fine and they're all good. I know there's the fuse box under the hood on the driver's side and also the fuses under the dash on the driver's side. Am I missing something, any suggestions? Thanks in advance for any help.
There is a sensor, if I recall right, in your trans that putting your trans in reverse trips to kick on your backup lights.
Could be that this sensor has gone.
If it were me, I'd take it to a shop and have them fix it as that is over my head.
But no matter if you fix it or take it to a shop, I think it's gotta be that sensor.

Just wanted to follow up on this. Huge thank you for the input on the reverse light switch on the tranny...that's exactly what it was. Got one at AutoZone for $12 and replaced it myself. Maybe the easiest fix I've done on my car. Just disconnect the plug and unscrew the old one, screw in the new one and reconnect. Thanks again for the help.

The very best part of this online car lovin' is helpin' and being helped.
Can someone please point out where the switch/plug/trigger is exactly on the transmission? I've got a 6-speed and I could only find a single plug on the top of the tranny case. It looks similar to the plug for the cam sensor.
Help!!!

Just placed an order for this with Russell at Mitsubishiparts.net.
Backup Light Switch
Part# MN132387 - Switch,m/t Gearsh
Total shipped to me in New Jersey via Ground is $29.41.
Unfortunately, it's going to take about a week for the part to get to Russell in Washington and another 3-4 days to get to me in Jersey, so I'm looking at a 2 week lead time. I guess it could be worse! hah!

I called up my local AutoZone, Pep Boys, and Napa Auto, and they all didn't have it in stock and couldn't order it. Also, pretty much all of them had no idea what it was. P&A Auto told me they could order it, but they weren't familiar with it and wouldn't know the exact price until it arrived to them. At that point it's cheaper and safer to order the OEM Mitsubishi part.
