Wow, do people ever look at what god damn section they're reading?
What Evo? The guy drives a 2003 Lancer!

And quite frankly, a 20sec search turned up 3 options for Evo front wheel bearings.

You're right. I was under the impression you were answering to the op. My bad.
But bearings are available for your car, so why would you replace the whole assembly when you could just swap out the bad bearing? Wouldn't it be cheaper? More work, but prolly cheaper assuming you do it yourself.

You are right it would be cheaper but not by much. Considering the wheel bearings themselves are around 58 bucks a pop and the assembly is 107 a pop. Id rather save myself from taking it to some hack with a press around here and pay his bill and instead do the whole assembly myself. I geuss you can say here, whatever floats your boat.

I bought this car to spend money on it and not on some stripper so I have a few extra bones laying in my wallet.

See ya in the woods.

I agree that 40$ just to save the trouble could be quite worth it.

I know this is a super old thread, but I'm experiencing something similar, and am wondering about a couple of details here.

See, I'm having the exact same symptoms you described--a grinding sound that intensifies with speed, especially when turning right. What you never mentioned was any vibration. When you had this issue, did you have any vibrations which rattled, and if so, which side was the vibration and noise on? For me it's all occurring on the right side, in which case it seems counterintuitive that the problem is actually on the left.

I'm not an expert by any means, so I'm not going to presume to be right about this.. I've just blown almost 150 bucks on all this noise to replace the CV axle, the Tie rod end, and the passenger side bearing to no avail I should have researched this beforehand, but I am where I am. I just want to be done with this...

Any ideas?
