Keyless Entry Issue

Hi. 09 Lancer GTS with keyless entry.

When the car was brand new, I would be able to have the fob in my pocket and gain access the car by putting my hand on the door handle. Six to twelve months later, I've had trouble with the keyless entry. I have been needing to have the fob in my hand next to or touching the door handle for it to unlock.

Has the fob battery deteriorated this quickly? Anyone with similar issues?

Thanks.

could be a battery or bad FOB. There is an issue when the key is in close proximity to a cell phone it interferes with the fob signal.

hi i have a 2008 lancer gts. i just replaced two battery to both my remote, one is working properly but the other one does not. Things is the red light is working and when i open the door it would open too. But if i press lock/unlck and the trunk it does not work like the other remote. Is this a re program or just buy a new extra one??? If can be fix tell me how or if i replace it how much? Also can you use the two remote at the same time? coz at first i think that was an issue,.

I had the same issue, one of my keys unprogrammed itself from the car. They ended up having to replace my key, and possibly the receiver unit inside the car. I know they gave me a new key though, cause it took them forever to get it to program.

Try replacing the battery, man. It is no more than 5 dollars and alot easier to replace than typing up a thread asking such a simple question. If the battery doesn't work buy a new fob on ebay and find out how to program it on GOOGLE, ever heard of that website? And if that doesn't work, you're **** out of luck and might as well take it to the stealership and it should be under warranty if the car is no more than a year old unless you have over 60k miles on it.

I took my 4 year old car in to the "stealership" as you say. ONE of my key-fobs went out, not died, not broken, it somehow deprogrammed itself from the car. They could not get it to reprogram, and even had trouble getting a new key to program. I think they had to clear all key-fobs from the system and program them fresh, or replaced the part of the security system that controls the key-fobs and reprogrammed the new key and my working extra key. It was covered under warranty and they did all that free of charge. Now if it was just the key, I would of either been charged an hour labor to reprogram it or an hour labor plus the cost of a new key, which isn't cheap if you get it from mitsu.

I have also had this problem. I have yet to fix the problem. I bought a new battery for the main key I use a lot thinking it was the battery but it turns out it was not. I find the replacement key and it was not programmed any more either. I looked at my owners manual to see how to program but I wasnt able to do it myself. I might have to take it to the dealer and see what they say to me and quote me on the price to fix it.

When you get into the car does it say something like "key low battery" on the car dash board. I can't remember exactly what it says but thats what mine did. And sure enough, the batteries were dead. Took it to the stealership and it turned out that my batteries were dead, but my car also had a small recall on the key fobs. The guy said my car was within a couple months of the recall, so he couldn't tell exactly if it effected me. So he gave me 2 new fobs anyway.

I have the same problem. One of my FOB's seemed to unprogram itself from my car. I'm not sure about what exactly they wanna do so lucky for me, I have a remote start installed with lock/unlock features. I'd hate for them to say they have to put a new system in and all that cause then have to re-install the remote start. (which just take the chip out of a key and put it in the holder of remote start)

Same issue happened with me a long time ago. They tried reprogramming with the old and a new FOB. They ended up replacing the KOS module and reprogrammed my old keys, and I havent had a problem in years.
