Creaking noise/sound from steering

I've done a search and brought up another thread:
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/la...-steering.html

But basically I'm having the same issue described in the thread. It sounds like a creaking door when I'm steering either left to right or right to left and happens most at slow speeds (like when I'm parking). It started happening before my spring install but has become louder since then. I've gone back in ans re-installed everything to make sure everything was done correctly and everything is bolted in snug, everything is lined up, everything looks great. I also replaced the front sway bar end links with new Moog OEM replacement parts. Again, I went back in and checked it and everything is snug and feels good.

I tried making the sound again with the car on jack stands but it didn't happen. It's about 60 degrees here, so not really super cold. I have not tried greasing the steering shaft yet like suggested in the other post but will try with some WD40 first (if I can find the shaft boot).

Any suggestions would be great!

I don't think so. I can check when I get home today. I will get some grease and try to grease the entry point where the steering shaft goes through the firewall like suggested in the other thread. I'm hoping that works.

Any ideas at all? Ball joints? Tie rod ends?

It's not the steering linkage or the steering shaft.

Well, if it doesn't happen on jack stands, then the suspension is unloaded most likely. So after your spring install, I am guessing to lower it... it may have affected the angle of the tie rods, possibly rubbing against something. The best way to check it to get a ramp style hoist, get someone to steer while you pinpoint the noise.

Great suggestion...thing is is that it was happening before the spring install but it's gotten worse.

I'm planning on putting in the stock springs and taking it to the dealership to have them look at it. It's more apparent when it's cold so I'll probably drop it off overnight so they can pull it in in the morning and hear the sound.

I've taken apart the front suspension so many times now....ugh....

Sometimes if I accelerate from a stop my front passenger side tire makes like a door creaking noise. I don't what is causing it, but it happens.

Found this while looking online today.

I'm pretty sure this is what's happening. I'm surprised not a lot on evom have experienced this.

EDIT: it's not coil slap as mentioned in the post.
