TB, MAF and IAC clean

My 03 Lancer (manual) has been acting up recently with poor throttle response and pulsating idling.

I've taken off the cables from the battery and reset the system. This seems to have fixed the poor throttle response (especially in 2nd gear), but now when I idle on red, the RPM's pulsate, with the engine stalling at times.

I was thinking of cleaning out the MAF and do a throttle clean to make sure there is no carbon build up.

Does anyone know if its is safe to clean the IAC with the throttle body cleaner? or do I just wipe it clean with a cloth?

What is the proper way of cleaning the IAC?

Wojtek

you can clean the whole tb dont know if id clean the IAC valve . u can take off the IAC valve and clean where it bolts on and all inside. mine just went out couple days ago with no warning... luckily i had a spare. sure everyone has an opinion but i wouldnt directly spray the IAC valve.

When your AIC went out, what kind of symptoms did you experience?

Was this easy to replace?

I'm having a cold start higher than normal idol issue on mine..2200rpm range..

there were no symptoms, my wife was driving it at the time and called me and said it was wanting to die at red lights. luckily it started acting up close to the house by time she got home i went down and the car would start and die within 3 sec idled at 200rpm, then it wouldnt start at all. i went to my parts lancer stole some sensors and just started switching one at a time till i found the the winner. it was easy for me since i had spares.it seems alot of lancer owners are have cold start issues all i know is what helped mine was the throttle cable adjustment and cleaning the tb helped my idle but people argue that. you can check the tb position sensor or maf sensor, it all leads back to bringing in to much air at start.

Resparking an old thread. Sorry (well not really, no.) I took it off and I know that we are told that we can clean it, however I don't see much surface area if any that we can effectively clean. Thoughts?
