Stuff is awesome and it'll make your broken mounts stiffer than OEM, just not so pretty if you suck at art like myself

yea man all went well the reason why it was not falling in place was because everitime I tryed putting it on place I didnt completely removed the rear roll stopper... so this is how I did it I losen up the 4 screws that hold the rear roll stopper at the bottom the screw on the middle of the roll stopper and the 3 screws from the rear bracket..THANK YOU for the help..:b eer:

Ah, that makes total sense. Hats off to you though for even getting that trans mount to seat at all with the rear roll stop in still the first time! No problem at all by the way, figured I could put my $.02 in seeing as those things are fairly tricky to wiggle into place and I loathed every moment of it

Hey guys,

I changed out my front right (passenger) motor mount today and am looking to change out the front roll stopper pretty soon. Just wanted to ask for some clarification on how to go about it.

Is the best way to tackle this from under the car by removing the three 17mm screws from the cross-member, removing the bolt from the roll stopper, sliding out the cross member, removing the mount from the cross-member, install the new one, and then install the cross-member?

Are there any other screws I need to remove other than the 3 cross-member ones?

The plastics may need to be removed. Aside from those the only bolts to remove are what you mentioned and in that order

It sucks. Worst part is that I didn't even finish the job o.O.
I'm a newbie with cars and I've had my 2002 Lancer for 5 years now. I've been doing research solely for maintenance. Evolutionm.net has helped but I've never actually performed anything outside of changing my oil or washing my car, until today.

I finally have enough confidence to work on my car, thanks to evolutionm.net forums and Mackey(Darkdragonwing from Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC_N...B09CNFg4BtxRlw). I ordered 3 motor mounts and a transmission mount. I figured it wouldn't be too hard. I removed the 9/16 bolt that held the center of the mount then moved onto the two bolts bolted onto the long bracket beneath it. I was unable to remove one of two bolts bolted to the support bracket- the rear bolt. So my question is: When you replace your front motor mount are you suppose to remove the bracket holding the mount too? The support bracket is about 2.5-3 feet long. The bolts on the bracket are 11/16 inch. I would really appreciate anyone's help.

One other thing: Am I suppose to use a thread lock or anti-seize, if so what kind?

Thanks,
David

My 2002 es has run trouble free since 2005 when I bought it. The rubber in my rear mount was torn, and the replacement was difficult. You have to use extensions on driver side bolts. These bolts are soft steel and can round off fast. I had to drill the front passenger side bolt out. Hollowed out the bolt. The biggest problem for me is bolts that are seized. I replaced all the other mounts even though they were still good, except for the tranny mount; the new mount would not fit.

ok i have one for you more experienced guys out there. i have replaced my front and rear engine mounts like 4 times each in the last 2 years. there lifetime warranty so not alot of money being spent. im on a 02 lancer oz manual. the rear looks more like vibration wear. its like the metal spacer in the mount itself just vibrates through the rubber downwards. the front one just keeps ripping. i have changed both at same time as well as diffrent intervals. nothing seems to be making a diffrence. im starting to think that the problem might be elsewhere that im not seeing. should i be looking at one of the side mounts? i have looked before but cant tell that there is anything wrong with them. i do normally drive kinda hard but this last time i made sure to not. shifting easy and not taking off very fast etc... but here i am again with two broken mounts. the car has full rmm header magnaflow high flow cat and cat back system as well as k and n cold air. nothing else has been done to the car. it has 227k miles on it

have vibration in my daughter's car. replaced the front roller, but that one did not line up correctly with the new mount. not even close. had to use like five washers and longer bolts to get the center bolt to slide thru the bracket. nothing I did would get it to line without raising the mount on the bracket. without the washers stayed at about 4 0"clock to the engine mounting bracket hole with most of the roller mount hole outside the mounting bracket hole. scared to even try the rear roller now. don't know if something is bent or what. for those thinking that if you look at it, you can tell if it broken or not...not so. the front roller looked fine until I took the center bolt out and lowered the cross member it is attached to. the center fell out of the mount.

I did when installed the front roller as to why it would not line up....why I wound up using the washers to make it fit properly. when I tackle the next roller and the two mounts, I may have. depends on how it goes. thx.

So not sure if this was discussed, but you are actually supposed to not torque the bolts to spec until the engine weight is sitting on them.....

are you sure you got the correct part? I'm guessing you mean the mount's center sleeve is not lining up with the holes in the bracket. with front roll mount off the engine should naturally roll forward, generally you need to lift the motor back into its natural position, not stack washers under the mount...

FYI - I don't mean to troll this thread but I have all of these mounts in excellent shape which were removed and are now for sale if you want them.

problem is, on the front roller, you can't get to the rear mounting bolt with it in the car.
