Obviously it's not oem. Why don't they contact Mitsubishi? Why do they have you doing the run around?

lol it was a 3rd party place where i got the windshield and i only paid $100 for it...im thinking the button goes in the plastic retainer then it screws onto the actual mirror...but if it really is oem then ill bring it to mitsu and see if they know anything about it

You want someone to take off their rear view to take a picture? Dude, that windshield is not OEM. They are BSing to you. Regardless of it being a private shop or not if the mirror from your OEM wind shield wont go on the new one its not OEM.

Its not difficult. I dont understand your problem. Man up, get a pair, and tell them the wind shield is not OEM. If they insist have them call Mitsu and do some research and they will have no choice but to fess up and tell you they just scalped you on a windshield and tell you they charged you OEM but just gave you one that fit instead.

To my knowledge no Lancers in the US have a detachable rear view. At least they can maybe take off that mount and glue yours up there.
