SRS light

So lately I have noticed that my SRS light is on, and I am wondering if any of you have had this problem too.

I own a 2004 Lancer ES (first car ).

Before it used to be on and off. (When stopping and at low speeds, it would come on. When driving at high speeds ~60km/h it would go off).

Now it appears to always be on...

I have not been into any accident although I have tried things that (from memory) may have triggered the light to be on:

1.) Almost T-boned someone, I pressed extremely hard on the brakes.

2.) Tried to vacuum under my seats, so I removed the two front screws off (driver's seat) but thats about it. (After removing the two front screws, I realized it was too hard haha)

3.) Adjusted my steering wheel position.

I'm just looking for some suggestions to try. I will bring it to a dealership sometime this week though.

I don't really know much about cars, so use easy vocab!

Do you think the airbags will pop out at anytime?

If your srs light is on that means the airbags are currently offline. The computer has found a problem and disabled the airbag system (turning on the light) to prevent accidental triggering of the system. It could be any number of issues causing it. I would check under the seat to be sure the wiring to the belt buckle is still intact. An issue with the belt buckle will cause the srs light to come on.

Ive unhooked and hooked the wire under the seat (The belt buckle wire) and nothing seems to change. I have made an appointment for servicing but its a damn $60!
