Header help....flange gasket
I've got a leak now where my header meets my downpipe....so I'm guessing my gasket is shot....anyone know of a way to replace (DIY) as the leak noise is really annoying. I've e-mailed bigjosh to get a new one, but was wondering if there is a DIY solution.
Thanks all
also what bad effects will i get from gasses leaking prematurely from the header?

Pull off the downpipe see if your gasket is really shot(doubt it if you just got your header less then a month ago) If its not tighten the bolts more, if it is then take your downpipe to an autoparts store and see if you can find the gasket.
Re: Header help....flange gasket
Get some Muffler Tape...
As to the bad effects, well just make sure you drive with your windows down or you may get carbon dioxide poisoning.
As you are driving, it will blow back through your vents, and then....

The head gasket isn't worn out by a long shot. You either a) fouled it during installation and perhaps took it out of shape or maybe even a very small tear or b) you didn't secure the gasket/flange assembly to the block to well. If all else fails, talk to a mechanic (Speed Merchant!).
dude, how can you tell if you have a leak?
The guy who installed my Kamikaze header cracked the flange gasket when he was pulling it out of the box
Anyway, he glued the crack together and installed the gasket like that. I took like $20 off the labor for that mishap.
Now I'm afraid I have a leak but I'm not sure how to tell?

I just let the car idle.....you can hear it and if you put your hand in there you can feel the air coming out...BUT BE Careful with your hand in there...if you have a leak it will sound like a lawn mower going at the same time as your engine noise
