engine vibrations

03 OZ Rally Auto with 96k

So there seems to be a lot of vibrations when i come to standstill, like waiting at red lights or stop signs. Not serious misfire vibrations but things just felt in the car. Kinda like what is felt when the cooling fans kick on but its not that its almost a constant and when the fans do kick on it gets a little stronger.

Where would one start looking? i'm going to assume motor mount/s or the trans mount. Are there DIY for these? Simple to replace? Like bolt-on type instead of pressing on bushings.

I'm 90% i had to remove a passenger side motor mount when i did the timing belt a few years back. I only had to lift the engine slightly at the oil pan to get that.

Maybe its something else other then a motor mount. I'm down to look/replace anything cheap.

I would go the same route, check the motor mounts. Also check the condition of the main brace that the motor rests on under the car. I had a 99 cavalier that had a rotted subframe and got a lot of really nasty vibrations from it.

that main brace you speak of. Its just two bolts in the front and 2-4 bolts in the back. Plus the thru-bolts in the front and rear mount right?

Will RUST play an issue to the point where i cant do anything? Ive had issues with other cars with rust not allowing me to do much.

Yep, that's the one. Rust will play a factor, if it's pretty rusted up and you try and remove the bolts, the bolt flanges may be rusted in place to it and could possibly just cause the material underneath to simply shear off, leaving you with holes bigger than the head of the bolts. Chances are if it feels pretty weak when you press on a section, it's just about done. I actually pushed my finger into the subframe on my cavalier, that was one of my many "oh $hit moments"
