Question Cigarette Odor

Hey guys,
So I have my Lancer and all is good. There is a bit of a smell from the old owner, I'm guessing he smoked in the car a bit. It's not too bad, and I really don't care, but the girlfriend and some of my friends noticed it and so I want to make it disappear. I changed the air filter today (it was yellow on one side, tar buildup) and had some fun spraying febreeze... any more ideas on cleaning out the rest of the stuff, like maybe the A/C, or am I basically doing everything possible?

Thanks,
Chris

well the odor probably seeped into the cloth of the seats so you can always get them shampooed...that should help a lot.

In my first car I had the same problem. My mom smelt it once and ended up getting me some volcano rocks (sorry, I don't know the actual name). Tossed it under the seat, and sure enough the thing worked great. Febreeze wouldn't dent the stuff though. Let me know if you want more info on it.

SIMPLE GREEN works great on all the fabrics in the car

1) get almost boiling hot water, and wash the fabrics with nothing

2) then mix the simple green with some more very hot water, and wash it in

3) let it work a minute or two, then with more almsot boiling hot water, wash it out

works like a charm, got egg smell out of my boys car, if it can do that, ti can do anything

You might try an ozone generator -- kills odors and leaves no odor nor chemical residue of its own. (Ozone breaks down into oxygen within minutes of its generation.)

Get a bottle of Ozeum from Target for $5. Spray some in the center of the car and let it sit for about an hour. Then vacuum the inside.

Has anyone had the thing done to the AC that Mitsu offers... I guess they pressure clean it with something that neutralizes the smell in the AC unit... right now everything smells ok but the AC is just horrendous at times...

Thanks!
