4G18 Idle Problem

Hey fellas I have a 2002 Lancer I'm experiencing some idling issues , when my A/C kicks I usually get a high idle over 1600rpm when I shift the gear to drive it drops just a bit below the 1000 mark! Usually when I go for a drive and park it's revving all the way up to 1800rpm then lowers to about 1500rpm! When I turn off the engine for about an hour or 2 it idles very low and then climbs slowly !!! What could be my problem ????

Sounds like the idle air control motor is on it's way out. It's a $30 part if you buy it from overseas, but in the states they only sell the whole assembly not just the motor and charge like $300.

I'm having a similar problem. Car idles funny and will buck and stall immediately after start up. It goes away after the car warms up. A friend of mine said to try and clean any carbon off the IAC which I did and it helped for a day then the problem returned. I'm hoping the IAC isn't going cause it's expensive ($325 from STM). I've also read it could be a MAF problem. I've deleted the stock MAF and am running an Omni 4Bar. Thoughts/suggestions?

If it bucks and stalls when you give it gas I'd check the TPS, that's the most common symptom of a failing TPS. Typically when the IAC is going it'll idle rough, hunt for idle(low to gradually high, or vice versa) and stall at idle. I know for the es you can get just the IAC motor from overseas for like $30, but here they only sell the whole assembly which the motor is connected to that bolts to the intake manifold(which is completely unnecessary unless it's completely caked up with carbon which I would think is pretty rare). As far as evo's go I'm not sure if you can get just the IAC, but if you have a scan tool you can check the TPS yourself. On my old bonneville I threw an aftermarket TPS on there and about a week later it would idle pretty high(1200 rpm) until it warmed up then drop to 750 rpm. Turned out the spring coil in the TPS bound up a bit and was preventing it from fully allowing the throttle plate to close until it got warm and expanded a bit.

i have a problem with my lancer 2007,gen IX, engine type 4g18:
the engine sound amazing and all, but when the engine got to the working temperature, and i stop the car while in drive (gearshift) the engine RPM drop to 500-550.
BUT if at the same time i put the gear in neutral or parking, the rpm got at the normal level of 700-750 RPM.
