No heat from blower motor

For the last 2 weeks I was unable to get heat from my blower, I found the fan wasn't working in slow speed so I checked the resistor and later replaced it, the fan is now full working but I cant get any heat from it?? when I was driving to the garage to get my new resistor I encountered another problem with my car, I was on a gradual slope and as I tried to accelerate my car wouldn't go above 2000rpm and when I looked at my temperature gauge it was reading very high. As I got to the garage the temperature gauge had dropped away again to normal and I noticed it was fluctuating quite drastically. The guy at the garage says it is not linked to the blower not giving out heat and suggested it may have something to do with EGR valve sticking?? or fuel injectors being dirty?? Any help on either of these issues would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Possible air pocket in the system....
Ask your mechanic to bleed the radiator/coolant system. He should know what to do from there. Make sure your blower/heater is turned on on full hot while the test is conducted.

Make sure you have coolant in the radiator (a very low level would do this).

Thanks for the help, turns out my radiator had a bad leak and was causing these issues. New radiator fitted and running well again.
