Thankyou!

Dude, ive had this draw on my Australian gt, known as a vrx, for over a year. I got so fed up i put an isolation key on the battery and literally disconnected the battery when i got home. Wouldnt last more than 2 dsys.
i found this module, ripped it out as i have bluetooth on an aftermarket stereo. Theres a you tube vid.
thankyou so much, this made my car one paint job away from doubling in value. All problems fixed, cheers.

Every 1 out of 5 Lancers have this issue

I had the same issue couple days ago with my 2009 lancer ES.not so worried because it lasted for 2decades to fail. And it was mentioned in the forums that it is the most common and known issue with the lancers and the failure rate in those BT modules are quite higher (around 20%).

I follwed the same steps, first checked the fuse panel under the bonnet and the isuue and the current dropped after removing the IOD fuse which is 30A. Since it is connected with multiple systems, then I went to the fuse panel under the steering wheel and yes, the fuse #7 was the issue which directs to the factory radio of the car. Since I have installed the aftermarket androi head unit, I had to do few more diagnostics, and the easiest way to find that the issue is with the BT module is to strip down the dash, locate the BT moduke which is right above the glovebox and check the temperature on it. It was freaking hot by the time I was checking and as soon as I disconnect the BT module the amperage dropped down to normal.

And, if you have an aftermarket android head unit and worried about not having BT compatibility if you remove the factory module, there is no need to worry about that because aftermarket units comes with their own BT compatibility.

Doors locked, all the dome lights off , if the current shows somewhere in between 20-50 mA, that’s perfectly normal. Anything above that would be a problem.
