Question about keys

Hi all,

I have noticed that sometimes when pressing either the lock or unlock button on my car key for my 2009 lancer de, the doors will not lock or unlock.
I tried my spare key and it would work, but then it would also do the same as the primary key were the car doesn't seem to respond at all, but it does start.
Is this a transmitter issue on the car side or code it be the keys?
Because I replaced the battery on the primary key and it worked ok for a while and then acted up again.
I was thinking maybe I should reprogram them using the steps I found on youtube

Just an update, when I sit in the car and press the unlock/ lock button on the remote keys, it works.
If I step outside just a bit the car doesn't respond to the remote, even if I am standing next to it it will not work, only in the car will it work.
Is this an issue with the car remote receiver?

Sounds like a dead battery. Maybe something in your pocket is pressing on the buttons and prematurely killing it.

Hm. That is weird. Battery in the car is okay, I'm assuming. Strange that reprogramming fixed it... even more weird is it stopped again. I suck at electrical, so could only suggest the obvious. Good luck, man. FWIW mine randomly decides to not work too. I haven't really looked into it, though. It pretty much always locks, just doesn't like UNlocking.
