Unhappy yellow valve cover

MODs... i dunno where i should have posted it... so i posted it here.... move it if u must... and rock... if u have any suggestions... any would be grateful........... well here goes........

thursday i got a valve cover powder coated from RRM... when i got itt... it looked so nice... so nice that like i was so boosted... then i took my stock one out and added the yellow one... when i was driving home from my uncles gas station where i installed it... i noticed that the engine sounded sorta funny... but i thought... wtf it doesnt matter... (friday)then the next morning i drove to school... felt kinda weird... but discarded the car... then like on the after noon... on my way home from schoo...i noticed that the oil sign came on.. i pulled over scared like a *****... opened the hood... i noticed that oil had leaked out of the valve cover... so i added a quart and headed to my uncles gas station... when i took it out... i noticed that when i installed it... i bolted the bolts on too tight causing the cover to bend in certain places... i took a normal pliars (sp) and like tried to bend it back to shape.. i thought i did... when i drove the car... it seemed better...(as i thought) then on saturday.... i woke up went to work... i left my car at home... i noticed my car was gone... my dad went to like virginia and like couple places and came back home... when i started my car... i noticed like a clicking noise and other stuff coming from my car... now i noticed... IM ****ED... so i went back to my uncles gas station...put on my stock valve covers... i told the mechanic to do it... GUESS WHAT... he bolted it on too tight... and it bent too... but we tried bending it back... now on sunday... which is today... this morning i went to pick up my friend to go to work... my car felt weird... but i thought i could drive... on the way to work... my car just shut off on me... i pulled over... started it... went and as i was slowing down... it shut off again... happened over and over again... finally i reached home... and took my brothers car... never thought id be so happy to drive a tiburon.... now... im out of a car.. and dont know what to do... any suggestions anyone???

Covered...twice in fact but with different endings.

Well...for one, check the gasket. They're thin and very sensitive to tearing. Yours is probably leaking. That clicking noise is probably the lifters since they love their oil to keep pressure at a good level. Second, your valve cover is probably so misaligned now that it don't know what's what. May be time to look at a new one if a replacement gasket doesn't help you. Maybe Road Race needs to supply the appropriate torque rating for those bolts...

i'd just go to the dealer if u need it asap. the rule of thumb is that everytime you take out your valve cover is to get a new one and make sure everything is clean b4 u put everything back together. also use a torque wrench to make sure everything is up to spec.

if u wants parts quick i really suggest rockville or ourisman mitsubishi they should both have em in stock. those 2 dealers also supply parts for a few other dealers in the area.

o yea nick, what part of MD u from? im from b-more but from time to time i go home to my parents in ft. wash

but back on topic uhm the dealer can be some asses so i looked up the part number. it should be MD307705

Local guy had sort of same symtoms as you but it without valve cover change. Problem went away. Going to check with about it. Don't drive car if it is low on oil. Will post specs for torquing valve covers on!

This sounds familiar!

I suggest not to drive the car or you will go thru the same hell that I'm going thru right now.

My car had the same symptoms and then it completely broke down to the point that the engine block cracked.

First thing I would do is an oil change! Get new gasket and new valve cover.

I'm still fighting the dealership to cover the repair under warranty.

okay... i changed the gasket and my valve cover isnt leaking any more oil... car is semi driveable... like it doesnt stall anymore and its okay... but like when i press the accelerator... i hear like clang clang cling cling and more rattling in my engine... what do u guys think i should do... get new pistons?? or do i have to totally redo my motor?? also... when im on idle... the oil sign comes on... and it idles at like 750 rpm... and when i got my oil change... there were like metal shards in it... i know... my engine is ****ed up... but... for now... do u think just changing the piston is good enough... or everything?

Dude, bring it to the dealer if you want your engine to survive.
Chances are engine internals are f**d up.

My car is going to get repaired at the dealer under warranty.
Is wasn't an easy task to convince them but at the end they accepted it was an engine malfunction.
