I think they're nice cars. If I had 35g's or so to spend on a new car I'd be between an iS300 and an S2000. Currently in my top 5 most desired new cars and showing no signs of leaving.
Potential for modding, hot looking thing, and RWD. It may not be a beast, but it's a very nice car in my book.

I think the IS300 is a great car with a lot of potential...too bad it is very expensive to transform it into a beast. Last I heard one had to dish out at least $7000 for a turbo for those babies. Not that you would have to do it, vvti engines are great N/A. I like the style of the body as well. Basically, much praise to Toyota!!

IS300 is the little brother to the Supra. Its expencive but you can replace the engine with a 2jz-gte and have a real sleeper. If toyota had offered the IS300 with a turbo I probaly would have gotten one.

is300....MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
my brother has one. i drive it every chance i get. granted, it's not a insanely fast car, but it is very quick. it's also SOOOO nice inside. he's got the leather/escaine trim, and i think that is my favorite trim of any car. leather with the grip of cloth.....damn. besides, i often confuse it with my lancer. when my brother pulled up one day i just saw the front side of the car and thought "wait how is he driving my car?" in fact when i saw my car on the lot in black, and saw how similiar it was to the IS300, i couldn't wait to drive it off the lot.

Only weakness I can see with the IS is the transmission. It's geared for luxury, and thereby is kind of slow for the ponies it has. I want Toyota to bring over the Altezza. Same bodystyle, different engine, sporty transmission. Then you're talking.

You don't need to do a swap necessarily. It's the NA version of the same engine if I'm not mistaken just like the 350z runs an NA version of the Skyline's. I can never remember their wacky engine codes.
EDIT: And let me just add that I may very well be mistaken.

hobie, not sure as well but i think u are right. And Street Lancer, didn't they change the transmission to a manual instaed of the sportronic. That is Lexus i mean. I thought i read somewhere that it was messing up their sales that they only had an automatic.
