Post 2005 Vw Gti

http://www.volkswagen.co.uk/gti/index.jsp

pricing has just been announced overseas @ 19,995 pounds. yes, that's right, about 35 THOUSAND dollars american. that is beyond ridiculous. its supposed to be out here fall of next year, but unless the price is closer to 20, it'll never sell.

The prices for the car in Europe is higher then the price for the car in the U.S. An EVO is $45,000 in some parts of Europe. The GTI will not be $35,000 here.

A Toyota Corolla in Britian is 13,500 pounds. Which is nearly $22,000 US. A comparable model is high 14's.

So I would expect that GTI to be closer to about $23-24K US.

that is pretty high, especially when you can get it for 24k (american dollars)

What the heck is going on with those headlights?

As for the price - I'd say $22-23k seems about right. The dollar conversion never really works.

This is an amazing car( i have a thread 6 months ago about this car) The price will be around 21~23K max when this GTI hits our country. They pushed it to a new level now with the new 2.0T engine that I heard is very very easy to mode (easier than the 1.8T) my friend in Germany saw one and he said in person this car looks amazing. I am saving some money to buy one once they come here

I like the updated looks a lot....especially the rear. 20 more HP than the old version too and stil a sweet VW interior. I like it......of course I LOVE the look of the newest Civic hatches too.....if only they gave us the "real" SI like they drool over on Top Gear

I'd be a VW shopper in a heartbeat if it wasn't for their spectacular drop in quality. One look at a JD Power quality score gets me off the V-dbub bandwagon in a hurry. Well....that and the fact that 2 friends had VR6's that had so many problems that they sold it within 3 years.

i have owned three vw's. a 98 jetta, a 99 beetle, and a 02 beetle. the service is horrible, at least at all the local dealers. that is why they are on crack to assume they can sell a 80k phaeton, or even a 60k toureg. fix the shiz that is wrong before you start to build nicer cars. you guys couldnt even service my 02 beetle, i will not trust you with my v-12 phaeton. they keep selling cars but no ones service gets better. i love vw but they got some basic stuff to fix before i bite the bullet again with them. it is a nice looking car though.

I love the look of it and the Si, too, don't get me wrong. I just feel like the similarities between the two makes it seem like VW is copying Honda. I considered buying a newer GTi, but like you, I did my homework and was steered away. I love the 20th AE GTi's, though. The yellow is the hottness.

Ill saw the car and read the article in the new british "CAR" magazine. Man, this car looks sexy all over. Its quick, with 197bhp, same as a UK type-R and its luxarous inside. I still think the stateside r32 looks better inside than the GTI, but dam... do i like the GTI looks all over.
