Keep EVO or sell for Supra

Unlike a Supra, or the later iterations of the M3, it is a true performance car worthy of it's ///M marquee.
If you don't know what it looks like, here's a pic:
It also weighs 2733 lbs, good luck with your porky Supra keeping up with one on the track

And btw aren't M3 heavy cars as well....
?
Even my Supra weighing 3500 lbs will take on a M3 any day... remember u can make anything handle on rails if you got the money.

3150 to 3500 pounds is not a good weight for a sports car. You have to throw more money into it just to get the power to weight ratio up rather than a lighter car.
...but this isn't about what car is faster or handles better. I agree if you invest enough money into just about any car it'll do better than this other car <x>. This is about someone who's having thoughts about buying a Supra. These cars look good, perform above average out-of-the-box, and with modifcations can be among the top performers out there.
I'll race you in my heavily-modified 1984 Rabbit GTI... you might be surprised when I beat the crap outta you just about everywhere. I'm mindful though that despite it's supierior performance over 99% of the cars out there, it's still just a rabbit.
I sold my 97 TT before I purchased the EVO. I put about 50 k on it, and it had been making 430whp for about 40k. It was pretty gosh darn fast in a straight line. It would walk modded Z06's easily. I raced a cammed Firehawk who trapped at 118 in 1/4 and he ever so slightly pulled me, from a 30 punch, so I assume I would trap in the 117's. That being said, it had a ton of rattles, fragile paint, and the practicality of it being my sole car wore thin.
I do miss auto climate control, and the straight line prowess, but thats pretty much it. The EVO is a much more practical car than the TT, and its considerably more fun to dart in and out of traffic with. Now if I can just get a little more power out the EVO without going drastic, maybe upgrading to the TME turbo, getting cams, and intercooler, I will be absolutely happy.
To importpepe, I knew a guy who placed 4th @ One Lap in I believe '02 with the stock turbo. It had full coilovers, sways, etc, but it was one of the better handlers of the bunch. No doubt the E30 is a competitor, but its not like its going to dominate the TT. If its a short course I would give the nod to the bimmer, but if its fast at all, the TT will catch it

Also Taimur,
This is what a friend of mine who resides in Long Island told me in response to your post #28: "Sure you can make anything handle with money, but with the E30 M3, you have a lot less distance to go to deserve this plate"

That's his car, btw.

lol
thanks
ill repeat myself if u get rid of ur modded evo be prepared to buy a Supra for more then ur EVO is worth with high miles. I cant see the sense in buying a Supra after having a heavy modded EVo. If anything try to get a drivetrain off the 05 if that is possible or have a shop fix the TC problem if you have the problem again. Stop going to the drag strip with it. If my EVo was modded like urs i would just cruise then when situations arise where u need to smoke someone u can
. Supras are hot though. But stick to what u got. Worry about it when it breaks and STOP GOING TO THE TRACK .

Stop going to the track? I'm not sure about that man. Trying to tell an evo owner not to take it to the track is like telling us not to **********, its fun and easy so why not? But yes when you look at both activities (especially when you loose a transfer case) they're fun till you realize your f*ckin yourself.
i think he meant drag track....which is probably where his TC broke. i've never really heard of too many evo's TC's breaking during an autocross or track. but they break a lot on the drag strip since this car was NOT made for drag racing(launching kills it)...but everybody in the USA thinks differently.
where and how did your rack and pinion break??

ACD is great but SYAW is what you really want. Get the best motoring where the rally EVO dude drives the EVO with the YAW. Then you will wait for a EVO with YAW. I Would just keep what u have if the transfer case goes again get rid of it then wait.
So you never took ur car to the track

it started whining like a jet plane after about 6000 miles. The car had never been to a track before it happend.
