350z to Evo?
350z to Evo?
Hi, i just registered into this forum. I've been browsing through these forums these past couple of days and it seems pretty cool and mature(technical and general). I am also the owner of a superblack enthusiast 350z. I have been having thoughts about getting an awd sedan, because i go to school(University of Michigan ann arbor), and the weather over there come winter time makes the roads pretty bad. I just don't like the idea of road slush on the underside of my ... car . And that the evo could be an all around year car, especially winter time.
I have been considering the evo 8,and i know there have been some previous 350z owners here who turned evo 8 owners. RIchard from 350zmotoring, whats up! If any previous 350z owners here could tell me about their experience switching to a different car...i would greatly appreciate it. And i know since this is an evo 8 forums, there will definitely be bias, but i'm open to listen to everything, be honest .
Performance wise, I have raced an evo 8 from a roll in my 350z 3 times, and beat it 2 outta 3 times, I'm sure from the roll i had the advantage, and it was definitely a driver's race. But i'm wondering what is the fun factor of the evo 8 performance wise, turbo, general......
Another reason why i'm thinking about switching from the 350z to the evo is practicality, 4 doors and more seats are better..
Also, when deciding a c... ar i know that sometimes appearance comes in play, I know the evo isn't the best looking car out there compared to the 350z, but i think i'm outta the sports car look "phase" and moving more toward just owning a 4 door sedan awd turbo....Anyways i'm babbling
If you people could help me out on any topics, random....just leave a few comments, thanks
Oh by the way, Do you think I should trade in the 350z and get the evo? or keep my 350z.

If you have the money, keep the Z and get the evo as well. Most people like myself wouldnt be able to afford two cars and would prolly trade it in, but I say hell with it, if you got the cash...more power to you
personally i would say get the evo because awd is 10x better in the snow and winter plus aditional seating. I would say trade in the z and get an evo. Are you planning on modding it or keeping it stock?
Evo would be more suited for you if you're interested in all out performance, its not a luxury car by any means. All depends on your plans really and what your preferances are. If you want luxury with some speed and some modibility, the Z is for you. Since you're looking for awd+sedan+turbo, you have come to the right place

I am the car nut previously known as Richard 350z. I would have changed my name to a symbol, but the prancing horse is already trademarked. I love my EVO RS. It is more fun, and easier, to drive on a racetrack than a 350Z, and much cheaper to mod. So far all I have done to it is the JIC/Mueller suspension (coil overs, rear swaybar and tuning by an expert) and a Schroth 4-point racing harness. I plan to do some serious engine and turbo mods in the coming months.
The only reason I miss the 350Z is for the looks. It is one of the most beautiful sports cars ever made by any car co. My RS just looks like an econobox, and very few people know what it is, but the few that do are always impressed.
I'd make the switch if I was you. I got great $$$ for my Z, and the EVO RS was cheaper. Plus you live in the snow belt, so the awd will come in handy. The 4 doors, back seat and real trunk are nice if you need them (I have 3 kids, so I do need them).
I am banned at 350zmotoring, so I have no idea what's going on there. It was really going to the dogs the last time I looked.

lets face it the Z is a looker and the evo is not exactly one. That bieng said what do you want to use the car for? Just as a source of transportation and being comfortable while looking good? Or do you want to track your car? Or do you want to modify your car. If you choose one of the latter 2 or both the evo is your car. It will murder a Z on a track or in the mountains. And the upgradability of a turbo platform that has tons of support is amazing. You can easily upgrade a evo power output with cheap bolt ons unlike the Z.
But if you are into the luxury/performance/looks of a car stay far away from the evo. Its not that pretty or comfy. Plus the ladies like the 350 better too

I have not had a chance to drive the 350Z but I have driven a S2000 (boat) and a RX8 (bigger boat) but the EVO oh the joy. Drive one and you too will understand the pleasure, excitement, extacy, thrill.........
I'm getting carried away.................JUST DRIVE 1
