I don't understand why Ford can't do better on roadholding than .84g. The new Toyota Tacoma X-runner pickup will pull .9 gs on the skidpad.

You don't wanna know what our EVO's run in automatic GT-A form.
Heh. I thought I heard that one of the fastest Supras (8 sec I believe) had a 2-speed Auto. Good times if you have a high stall converter and gears that keep you in the peak of your power for longer.

Yeah but more torque and less drivetrain loss due to the lack of allwheel drive. And as far as weight Evo 3263lbs, Mustang 3450lbs

Wow it's not really that difficult to read now is it, I have stated already not to magazine race and that Motor Trend tests fast. So are we to just to disregard Car and Driver and/or Road and Track's tests??? Also I was talking 1/4 mile when I said nearly a second slower, come on it's not that hard now is it?

The GT is setup for a cushy ride. Wait for the Cobra if you want to turn 0.90+g.

Also, there won't be that big of a change in 1/4 mile times between the Auto and Manual because the Auto is a 5 spd...the same as the manual. The ratios are a little different but for the most part the times will be close.

Beware

Just make sure you know when and when not to race. It's not worth it to put a dumbass 16 year-old in his place when he's got a death wish. I'd love to race a Mustang in the wet and have him eat the wall, but I know better.

We complain about 16 year-olds driving Evos. Look out for the legions of kids in Mustangs.

You don't have to act like a fool just because you see a fool acting like a fool.

Ah, you're right. I thought the manual would be a 6 speed. Probably not a big difference

I went and saw the Stang and it's not what I was expecting. It was very old looking (not retro at all) and very plastic and cheap.

It wasn't very attractive at all. Yeh, magazine racing sometimes exhaggerates too much. According to magazines, we do 13.2 on 1/4 mile, so...

WOW the arrogance of EVO owners never ceases to amaze me. NO CAR IN THE WORLD is even close to an EVO.

bottom line is Rustang buyers and EVO buyers are typically 2 different people. EVO's aren't bought to be going in a straight line and Rustangs aren't bought to hang curves on a track day. It's like comparing knives and forks man.......sure, they're both silverware....but different uses altogether

One thing is certain, the Mustang is hands down the more attractive car. No question. Big improvement over previous versions. The clutch and transmission can take more abuse as well. Nontheless, I wouldn't drive it in the winter.
