2005 Mustang GT- Be READY fellas!
There was a post in the first page of this thread that says Mustangs have always been straight line beasts. No, sorry. I have taken many Fox bodies with bolt on modifications and a few stock 4.6 GTs in my Maxima.

I didn't disagree with you that the stang is almost 1 second slower in the quarter mile. but AGAIN, you're not comparing apples to apples. Anyone knows that the transmission matters, ESPECIALLY when you're talking about launching from a standstill.
I am almost positive that I read due to the gearing of the NEW 5 speed auto their will be NO difference in acceleration (0 to 60 and 1/4 mile times) between the auto and manual tranny.
I would make a bet after owning an Evo and several FOX bodied Mustangs that the from any type of street start up to 100+ mph the new Stang will accelerate a little harder. From a complete stop an Evo should win if driven hard / abused.
Remeber guys right now the Ford dealers are getting MSRP ... but I bet in 6 months to a year you will be easily able to buy a new GT for INVOICE LESS some crazy *** rebate. So where looking at potentially $6k - $8k LESS than an Evo.
Look at GTO's for instance you can easily get one for around $27k which is an awesome deal for really an excellent vehicle.

Last Wed. night, 10/27 in Englishtown, an'05 stang gt was only running low 15's and and mid 15's,( my '90 auto n/a 300zx has the same time on a hot summer day). That same night my Evo8 ran low 12's consistently. Case in point, this '05 stang GT is really not very impressive car. Besides retro looks is not for everybody.
They better not I want the skyline bad! and even if the new mustangs can hang with the evo's in a straight line they will still be butchered in corners I still wouldn't consider it a major competitor.
You have got to be kidding me. Think about it for a minute. It's almost 2005 and Ford is still producing what is supposed to be a performance car with solid axle rear suspension. This set up is great if all you want to do is drag race. Ford should be able to much better. This explains why their new vehicle sales are falling each and every year.
