Evo vs. RX-8 in the twisties?
The October 04 issue of Best Motoring did a comparison of endurance test among various cars at Tsukuba.
Group A (above 250PS):
Evo MR RS
STI Spec C
M3 CSL
NSX R
Group B (250PS and less):
Honda S2000
Honda Integra Type R
Mazda RX8
The cars were driven continuously for 20 minutes per session, and the driver had to slow down if the oil temperature hit 140 degC, or if the coolant hit 110 degC. There were 2 sessions and the drivers were swapped to eliminate bias.
Evo MR RS came up tops in all tests and lapped the RX8 each time.

hey mr. Ashley, with the right suspension setup, the srt will play with an RX8 in the twisties no problem. and every straightaway, you will pull even further away!!!!
The thread is about the RX8..No one mentioned the SRT4.....(till you did)
Maybe we need a SRT4 forum here on EVOM...
For SRT4 newbies..
steiner is a friend of mine, who as of right now owns a 2004 SRT. i was just stating that a slightly modified SRT can hand an RX8 its butt. therefore, an EVO would definatly be able too. thats all, not saying that an SRT was better or worse than anything else. not taking away from the EVO, just saying that if he was going to spend money, that the MITSU would be the way to go. true, no one mentioned the SRT til i did, but it wasnt an erronious comment, it served a valuable purpose to the gentleman who started the thread! you all need to move on! it was directed directly at mr. Ashley, and he knew exactly what i was saying!

the evo comes in different varieties. i may be a little off, but here's what i have gathered: the MR is of course the big dog of the evos, with all the performance doohickeys and whatnot; the MR itself came in MR GSR flavors, which would have all power, A/C and all that jazz, while the MR RS is the stripped version (these versions are like the USDM counterparts, GSR and RS) and therefore the more track-ready one.... i think

The EVO would rape the RX8 in the twistes an aquantence of mine has one and its power band doesnt really kick in till almost 5 thousand ! O mazda and there horribale attempt for a sports car haha jk , the turbo starts to really kick in at 2500 to 3000 EVO would kill plain and simple.
