Rx8
Rx8
I went to the RX8 forum and read all the unlucky RX8 owners complaints. I decided to give my thoughts on (against buying) the RX8...
It's funny, people that complain about the RX8 that owned or were looking at buying an RX8 could complain about it as much as they wanted. When I happened to give my thoughts a couple people told me to go back to the EVO forum. Apparantly I'm a troll. I guess you have to own a car to complain about it.

I was just talking with my brother-in-law who is an avid car nut and WRX owner yesterday, and he mentioned that Mazda was offering the original RX8 buyers an opportunity to sell their cars back to the dealership at msrp.
It seems that the Rx8's don't have as much hp/tq as listed in their marketing brochures, etc... . He also mentioned that any new prospective buyers have to sign a waiver form stating that they are aware of this issue.
Is this the kind of discussion they were having?
Btw I got a close look at a few Rx8's at dealership about a week ago, and I have to say they really look great on the outside. Unfortunately the leather interior has a ribbed-look on the sides/bolsters that looks like some kind of crappy rubber material instead of leather. I was amazed that they would put that kind of an interior in an otherwise cool(and powerless
) little car!
Just my .02 on the Rx8, coming from the land of Evo's where we pretty much say what we damn please about other peoples less fortunate cars!

Whatever you do; don't go on the RX8 forum and talk down the RX8, they'll kick you off. One guy called me an a$$hole so I said "F--- you to him and that dude complained about me and they kicked me off.
well someone from a forum im on solved this problem...
he is in the process of swapping that pos rx8 motor with a 3 rotor 20b and a T67 to match.. i dont remember the exact forum but its in one of the bimmer forums...
e46fanatics.com or org, dtmpower.net..well i forgot so just search around anybimmer forums or probably the rx8 forums

I've been on the rx8forum.com for over year and lurked for sixmonths before that. Its a very good forum except for a few fanboys. The bottom line is that the car was a big let-down for enthusiasts and a lot of claims never materialized.
BTW...check out the thread titiled "EVO" in the General Automotive secton there. Its a great example of misguided fanboys!

Not an RX-8 owner. I don't think the 8 was a let down. The magazines all tested the production version so the 0-60 times aren't different. They goofed on 11hp, and that sucks, but only 30 people sold their cars back. The JDM version still has that 11hp. The 8 is a weird car. It's high quality/high price with ok acceleration performance and outstanding track performance. Mazda had a video on the japanese site where they ran a 7 & 8 together. The 7 pulled on the straights and the 8 passed it on the curves. Like the Evo, not for everyone. Now that the rotor heads and rally guys have their rides we'll see how sales go.

I waited over two years for the RX8 and it was a huge let down. The cars tested in April (last round of tests) were stil pre-production cars. Mazda's unethical reputation has led some skeptics to believe they used pre-production cars with more power (i.e. that were not as clean - i.e. more emissions - as the final production cars),
A year ago, most people expected the car to be under 2,900 lbs., have 250 HP and have tight handling. The car came in well over a hundred pounds heavier (negating the rotary's advantage of allowing for a lighter car), the car really produced about 220 HP at the crank (around 165- 180 at the wheels) and a torque curve (that was originally published in preproduction models as flat) that now resembles our stock EVo's with much lower numbers.
Below are my impressions of the RX8:

The bottom line is that the car's performance is subpar when you compare it to sports cars (it is advertized as one by Mazda). Against luxury sports sedans it does a bit better.

from that site:
"I have to say this much... strip the interior and the costly items off the RX-8... the leather, the refinement, the plastics, stereo, etc...
With that money, give it a more firm suspension. Add a turbo running 18PSI.
And put it onto a track with the Evo.
Who wins now? And the bigger question... who cares? If you're all about the lap times, speed, and precision of handling then welp, the RX-8 isn't for you because it's full of compromises. But to me, a neophyte driver working his way to becoming reasonably good with baby steps and an aptitude to learn",
That was BIG!!!....LOL that topic was sooo damn funny
