Extracted from the high performance 4WD rally machine driven by Tommi Makinen, this sporty hatch is powered by a turbocharged 1.5 litre GDI engine that achieves strong acceleration and good fuel economy. Because it gets the Evo VII's 4WD system, it is also fitted with ACD and AYC.
When new design chief Olivier Boulay arrived on the scene in late May, he was not happy with what he saw. So the model you see here has been completely redesigned, and in just four months. His direct connection with COO Rolf Echrodt, helped speed the process along somewhat.
Expect to see a production version on the road by the end of 2002.

Get used to it
will likely consider this for their next gen WRC car, purely based on competetive reasoning. The production version of the CZ3 concept is expected to hit the streets in Japan this fall, initially without the AYC and ACD.
I don't think that will mean the demise of the Lancer EVO, at least just yet.
Given that
Australia has the RalliArt Magna, it's quite possible that RalliArt will be the performance division in the same way SVT is for Ford and STi is for Subaru. Thus, we could see more RalliArt badge vehicles based on other platforms.
Though this car could be considered ugly, think of the power/weight ratio.
Also, might as well get used to this styling, Olivier Boulay is on as an Executive...
