Better daily driver M3 or S4?
if you are buying used, i say the S4 no question. new though, i would probably go with the M3. you commented on 28k price range. that would get you v-6 bi turbo, and you will love that car. good luck
I owned a 98 M3 at the same time my brother had an 01 or 02 (I forget) S4. I liked the S4 better overall, smoother engine, better ride, and the 6 speed provided a much better freeway experience. The M3 had less understeer and handled better, but if I had too choose between the two cars, it would be the S4.

Thanks guys. I really thought you guys would be more for the M3, but it seems that alot of guys back the S4.
I would be getting the v-6 bi-turbo s4 if i got one. The new one is too expensive right now.

S4. Quiet, comfy, good in all weather, plenty of space and well mannered.
All of my money making endeavors are embarked on with purchasing an M3 as my goal, but for your situation I'd definitely go with the Audi.

I have both and I enjoy the M3 much more on a daily basis. I actually bought the Evo to keep miles off of the M3. The S4 is great in the snow (Evo sucks by comparison - before anybody starts with "My friend's brother's roomate has one and...", direct back-to-back comparison on Blizzaks). The S4 is a little cramped in the cockpit (I'm 6'2") but the M3 feels as if were tailored to me.
Instead of asking a bunch of folks on the internet who have probably never driven the carrs, why don't you go out and drive them both so that you can formulate your own opinion rather than adopting herd mentality?

I disagree with you totally. I drove both the s4 and m3 this weekend and I am 6'5", I felt better in the s4. I decided to sell the evo and get the s4, its much more tailored to my driving needs.
