STI weight wait

I've been looking forward to getting my Evo in a few weeks, but the talk on the Subaru boards has been about how the STi will be significantly lighter than the Evo. I had a hard time buying that, but it has made me nervous enough that I was planning on putting down a deposit on an STi today just to cover my bets. I mean, giving up 30 hp is one thing, giving up 100-200 lbs on top of that might be more than I can take. Then I saw this post on the Toronto show, posted today:

http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...hreadid=315691

If this is right, the Evo & STi will weigh the same, and I can live with that, especially if the Evo is a few grand less

Not that this one post will keep me from putting down that deposit on the STi...

Personally I feel the subaru people say regarding weight is crap!

Road and track weighs the wrx at 3130LB
U.S> evo weights 3263lbs.

I dont' car on the spec C bull. the spec c doesn't even come with rust proofing! JDM weight is way off! No jack fluids and etc. Go by U.S. spec and add on top of that. I know spec c has thin roof (which will crush you on rollover so i dont' think subaur will provide that with liability here)

Your guess is as good as mine. Add more to that for 17" tire weight since rims probably about the same but sti tires are wider.

6 speed manual weights 100lbs more than 5speed.

R180 drivetrain instead of R160 smaller axels on wrx.

2.5L and DCCD.

YOu can subtrack glass radio or any bull crap but i'm still saying 3400lbs. Watch and see!

This is my opinion and you have yours.

i'm sticking to my original idea that no matter what the weight and hp come in stock ... with about the same amount of money in both (say 35 grand) they will rival each other like no other on the trrack

My guess is it'll weigh around 3300lbs and cost 32k base price.

Just an FYI, the Sti 6 speed weighs 85 more lbs. than the 5 speed.

Everything else was right, though...bigger wheels, brakes, 2.5 liter.

However, Sti has lightweight aluminium suspension pieces.
