exactly, the truck engine is actually torquier than the 2 liter jdm N/A version and since some ppl seem to be obssessed with power for drifting then ka24 sounds like a better option to begin with. u don't need much power when ur first learning, because things can get outta hand.
and why is it that ppl keep talking about how u need power this and power that for drifting, but when a domestic muscle car gets into drifting, all i hear is "oh, all that these cars have is power, they suck!!11"
actually, domestics can be nice drift cars. i've seen a clip from what looks like the making of "dukes of hazzard" movie and the general lee gets drifted around a narrow semicircular portion of a street in one continuous motion only 1-2' from parked cars. looks and sounds sick.
anyway, just get a stock car, some bolt ons, get LSD and upgrade brakes from like 300zx.

PS: if u want some serious advice about the 240sx, let me know. my japanese friend has been drifting, racing and building cars for a few years. he has a s13 with sr20det swap among other upgrades and custom mods, he can give u some good advice.

You can get any car you want from Evolution imports. They had an S-15 Silvia hooked up for about $12,000-$18,000

Isn't EI the same company that shafted about a dozen EvoM members out of $35k on Evo7s?

get a corolla, less common and i believe it looks better. only problem is finding one and getting one for a good price. My cousin has one and its really nice rode in it and it was pretty neat- im not into the drifting scene. It comes with a lsd already so get some suspension mods and go for it.

get a 240 with a rb swap hehe.

I don't know? That's a new one on me. I've dealt with them for a while now, but never bought. I was going to get a Skyline GTR R-34 from them, but never had any major issues so far. Show where this is? If it is them, how in the hell did they get away with that and without going to jail?

how much should I pay for a SR20DET swapped

1. S13 - no body mods/ perfect swap with no problems/ almost new clutch
2. S14 - no body mods/ perfect swap with no problems/ almost new clutch

I'm thinking around $12k sounds resonable for the S14 of course depending on what mods were actually used on the swap SR20...

what prices have you guys seen?
Before I had my Evo I had a s13 with a full sylvia front conversion. I paid $2,100 for the car and a little more than $4,000 for the sr20det motor, fenders, hood and front bumper. (including installation) It was definately a clean job. No problems whatsoever. Unfortunately it got stolen about a month after the conversion and less than a week after I bought rims for it. I totally miss that car. But if it didn't get stolen then I wouldn't have my evo. So, I guess things happen for a reason. I happy now.

I'm not sure. I'm going on memory, but I recall they had deposits from numerous board members for imported legalized Evo7s. They kept dragging their feet and making promises but nobody ever got their car (maybe one guy did, but it wasn't legalized?) or their deposit back. Most of the people waited so long that the Evo8 was out so they backed away.

There was a member, SenorInfo, who posted some excellent information about EI, Motorex, and legalizing JDM cars that were never brought to the US. The just of his posts was that The Evo7, Skyline GTR, Silvia S15, etc were not legal and weren't going to be anytime soon. Motorex pulled a fast one on the EPA and NHTSA to get GTRs here and got fined out of business for it.
