Ive decided on my project car... s13 with rb26dett

With the evo as my daily driver I will be starting this project once I find a 180. The three swaps I have been considering was the sr20det/rb25det/rb26dett. Ive done my research and I have decided to go with the rb26dett. The rb26dett is considered by many people to be the godzilla motor of the rb family and is a perfect platform to mod with. The motor itself can easily handle 500whp on stock internals. So far Im going to need

nissan 180 (2500-3000)
rb26dett motor (from r32, about 3500-4000)
mckinney motor mounts (about 625)
custom driveshaft (about 550)
rb25det trans (1000 ???)
rb25det oil pan (no clue?)

Once I drop it in I will then start my modding.

Anyone with any expirence with any swaps into s13/s14 I would love to hear some advice or general knowledge. I might be missing some things but not sure yet.

Thank you

Always wanted an RB25 or RB26 powered 240sx. I wanted it in a 98 body though. God I love those cars. I'll eventually do one

you're also going to need to have ic piping made to fit, a downpipe that fits (mckinney makes one), MAY need a single turbo because I think the twins hit something (steering shaft?). It's been a while since I've had my RB'd 240. Are you going to be doing the wire harnesses on your own? Also, there's other mounts that are cheaper that work just as well. I believe tophat makes some good mounts. I dunno about the 26, but on my 25, you can use the stock KA radiator, but it would'nt hurt to get a koyo. You're also going to need new fans because the stock one wont fit with the new motor. The Flex-A-Lite dual 12" electric fans worked great for me. You're also going to be needing an LSD, good suspension, and some good tires. lol. Have fun with the project.

the RB26DETT's came in R32-34 GTR's. The RB20DET came on the R32 GT-S's while the RB25DET's came in the R33 GT-S and R34 GT-T. The R34 RB25 had a variable valve timing and i believe GTR internals.

Mine fit like a glove. Just happened to be a very big hand in a very small glove.

I heard Venus Autos has alot of RB's for a pretty good price. You should check out 240sxforums.com, teamracebread.com, and rb25det.org for more info. I used to hang out on the australian skyline forums alot. They help.
