They make a non-hybrid civic that gets like 45mpg. Get that.

For the money the Mazda 3 is dam nice car. Stock HIDs! If you are going new, I'd put it near the top of the list.

If your range is 15-22k and your going used you might as well get a used Evo. Or maybe even a used SRT4 or a WRX those go for around 16k-17k used. If your going new I guess the new Si. Its a pretty cute car

Civic hybrid all the way. Should be little or no aftermarket to tempt you.

I was not in the market for a used evo when i bought one back in July so i looked a lot of brand new cars. The one i liked and was thinking of buying was a ralliart lancer. i know not many have suggested it, but it was a very fun car and i felt right at home driving it (coming from an 02 lancer ES and even when i drove another one after i bought my used Evo). RRM is making good progress working on the ralliart so you could always do a little work to it if you wanted.

I would check out the new civic SI, i am actually waiting for my local dealer to get one so i can test drive it out of pure curiousity. It should be a fun car to drive as well.

I'm going to look more into the civic si, mazda 3 and scion models for sure... I just need to test drive all of em first

I am not interested in a used evo..love the car, but can't go into the aftermarket temptations...I am a greedy bastard that loves credit cards...and now, I am a practial old man of 25 yrs old..hahaha.

go with the SI... of all he named cars, I see the Honda's the least for maintenance issues. Matter of fact, if you do leave it stock, it will last until you just can't stand keeping the car any more vs it wearing out. nice used RSX would be my next choice for the same reasons...
