I'd go Scion TC, good looking and should sip gas, also can't beat Toyota reliability!

Ralliart. You could probably get new or slightly used 05's around your lowerbound price.

steadfast u got some nerve saying that VW's are garbage. far from it if u ask me. i owned a 2000 golf 4 door 1.8t with about 12,000 worth of mods and it was awesome. 240 whp 275 tq. it was a tire skortcher. pulled so hard top end too. nothing ever went wrong with it the 5 years i owned it, owned evo for less then a year and have had more problems with it then my vw

My suggestion would be a SRT-4. Great bang for the buck. If you changed your mind which I am sure you will. You can mod the crap out of those cars for cheap. If you wan something super reliable I would go with a civic or used RSX. Good luck.

$12,000 worth of mods and only 240whp 275wtq? I'm sorry, but that is pretty pathetic if you ask me, especially with $12k mods under there. Its no surprise since the stock K03 turbo is puny as hell and only supports up to 200whp. Its pretty sad you spent all that money only to gain an additional 40whp over the stock turbo.

deadbeatrec you are very true. VW is a great company I have only a black 97 2.0 turbo and a 97 jazz blue drivers edition vr6 which were both ver good cars for the money. I beat the crap out of both of them and the only thing I had replace was a coil pack at 160 thousand miles on the vr6. The car had a stock clutch with 160,000 miles and I could still chirp secound gear all day everyday. I will say that i don't miss front wheel drive and the R32 is one the the poorest preforming vehicles for its money. My friend had a R32 with a vortec stage 2 supercharger kit that cost 10,000 on top of the 30,000 thousand he paid for the car and when we raced I would beat him by at least a car length everytime bone stock. I also know that my friend is one of the best drivers I know and that he was trying his very hardest. Long story short he sold the car.

Civic si is nice. I saw one on the road the other day and did a double take. Really looked good.

Also, I just bought a Prius (gotta average out my gas mileage ) and it's really nice, but I loaded it up with all the options, which would put it out of the $ range, but you'll save a ton on gas. We drove 110 miles the first weekend before the gas even went 1 bar below "F". Well over 500 miles on the first 10 gallons, and that was a lot of "gas engine" driving...

imo get a used 03 Infiniti G35 Sedan. low 20s to 25k will get you one in nice condition with less than 35-40k miles.

The car sucks ***, test drove one, the shifer sucks, no pick up, and it rolls like no other in turns, it fells like the car used normal corolla springs and dampeners, how can u even consider that a sports car. Neways, back to the question, if you got a family and you need to lug around stuff, i would recommend an accord hybrid or rav4, if you just need a car for ur self and maybe other other person, i would recommend a civic hybrid or a prius, test drove a prius and the interior is really roomy, other than that, all these guys are suggesting sport cars and stuff, like a WRX, which you should not be thinking about since it sips more fuel, get attention from cops, and it not very sensible for a guy in you position
