I 've drove a few. I will say it's was ahead of it's time when the ITR came out. Other then that it was a fun car to drive if you did alot of SCCA events or autocross.. The link of this ITR is badass..
http://www.importtuner.com/features...witr/index.html

He posted a vid on Honda-tech.com and this car sounded like it was indy car.. Very fast!! I will say that. If I can find the vid. I will post it for you guys..

Veryone like thier own style I guess. It's what is in your budget...

EK Civic Type R only had a B16A so didn't have as much power as the Integra. The DC2 Type R has come down alot in price over tha past year, so they've become pretty popular. And they usually kick the crap out of non-STi WRX's, be it on a drag strip or a racetrack.

Type R's are awesome. they're a track car made for the road. they have no sound deadening and usually have no air con to keep weight down. The interior still has titanium gearknob and handbrake lever and Recaro seats that put shame to those found in the USDM Evo.

They're used here for pretty much every form of motorsport. Track racing, tarmac rallying, drag racing and some Type R-powered Hondas are used as rally cars.

The difference between a Type-R motor and it's regular equivalent is they are hand-assembled, have balanced internals and decent factory headers (some other things as well I think?) For what the engine is, they put out some pretty awesome power. K20A's are where it's at now though.

I'm not saying they're a better car than the Evo, but they're still awesome and deserve most of the credit they get.

BTW, at the comment about not being able to launch the evo over 4k, what is wrong with Evo VIII's? whenever I go to a drag meet the people racing in Evo's and Galant VR-4's always just sit on the rev limiter and dump the clutch whenever they launch. And after multiple launches through the day you still see them drive home.

I don't see why the Evo VIII's driveline should be any weaker than the previous generations.

I too am not a Honda fan but it was a car i considered back in the day since there was no EVO here.

the Integra Type-R (like the civic type-r) is legendary in Japan. it handles well, is lightweight, & most of all RELIABLE. yes it is inferior to an evo in all aspects EXCEPT build quality. you can't make big power cuz of the Al block but if you slap on an iron block & big turbo you will hurt feelings. hondas are also alot simpler to work on since mostly everything runs on motor oil. a built tranny can chirp all gears. what they are good for is TOPEND power. slap on a vortech S/C on a S2000 & you will have alot of trouble pulling on it from 100mph. if you took an N/A evo & ran against an ITR, you would be disappointed. also check out Comptech's cars in the touring series on Speed channel. they are beating Turners BMW's real bad...

The k24 comes form the TSX and the honda CRV...if you take the rsx k20a2 or the k20a (jdm) and mate it with a k24 block.. u got a honda that makes tq and had the topend power.. of course the is limited to the revs by the storke of the k24 block.. upgrade the piston and rods with some strong pistion rings.. slap a SC or a turbo kit on it and you got one mean machine.. but of coruse you have fwd..

Quite a few track modified Type R's in Japan are able to hold their own against modded Evo's and GT-R's. Still NA.

Technically, the K24 in the TSX and the K24's in the USDM Accord and CRV are two totally different motors. Accord/CRV K24 only makes 160 hp and the TSX makes 200 and each is tuned for it's horsepower. Newer Frankenstein motors are still a little up in the air at this point, since the TSX K24 makes about as much hp as the K20A4 with an additional 20 or so lb's of torque. We'll see as the K series grows. I mean hell, we're already on our third iteration of the K20 for just the RSX.

The Type R is not a stripped "race" car like some people like to make it out to be. It has some premium interior touches. What is does have is less sound deadening, which makes it a little louder inside, like an Evo or STi.
Also, the Type R has a limited slip diff, which on an autocross makes it come out of the turns better, much better than my RSX did. When comparing them side by side, my RSX felt less connected.
Also, the Type R has a unique rear suspension, which the Civic guys can not recreate.
When you combine the: Limited slip diff, rear suspension, re-rated shocks and springs, specific wheels with the right tires, a few chassic tweaks, and lightening, the Type R was a great car. It was fun to drive, fast, and well balanced. In a way, my Evo reminded me of the Type R, just a lot faster and a lot....more.
As for the Honda guys that try to build them out of their Integras and Civics, they are not Type Rs.
As for the Type R comparison to the Evo (and the STi )......well if the Honda drivers could get their hands on an Evo (or the STi ), they would.

^^^someone who understands. i owned a yellow '00 ITR and it was FUN. i autoxed and tracked the hell out of it. on a tight track, it could compete with cars that were a lot more powerful. the sound of the engine at 8400 rpms was just awesome.

a car doesn't have to have 300+ hp to make it fun to drive.
