i hear ya. i just took my mr2 turbo with bpu's and 163k original miles on a 400 miles one-way trip from socal to san francisco. i was boosting like a **** the whole time too. the reliability is mind bending. also it drove really nice the whole way...

but yeah, i prefer the Evo too. 2 more doors, 2 more propelling wheels....more practicality and more performance...can't ask for more

Do you have proof?

I drive 2 Toyotas now. An '06 Sequioa, and '04 4Runner. They are boring to drive from a performance standpoint. However, they are extremely safe, very reliable, semi-luxurious, and built very well. My Sequoia is a Limited, and on the luxury scale, it isn't too far under my old man's LX470. Same with my 4Runner, it's not too far under the GX470 in terms of luxury. I am very satisfied with both of my Toyotas. Plus, the service is night and day better than the Mitsu dealership.

However, I am sad that I had to part with my Evo. I miss that car. I have an S2000, but that's not a worthy replacement. I am working on a '57 Belair with a 540cid big block, but that's not really an Evo replacement....The Evo was a very unique and fun car. I'm pi$$ed that my brother's Silvia S13 conversion is the fastest car in the family now. I'm shopping for a decent Supra though, so I will stay in the Toyota fold and I will regain the fastest car in my family status. I've always had a thing for Supras.

toyota's truck line up is where the excitement is. take any yota truck and do some wheelin through mud and over boulders, that puts a bigger smile on my face than whipping the evo around an autoX course, although that is extremely fun too.

+1 Toyota claims its Tacoma X-Runner could outhandle a 350z. Toyota also claims that roadholding exceeds 0.9 g’s of lateral acceleration. 60mph is reached in 7 seconds and 6 with the TRD supercharger.

Toyota is boring to the enthusiast community but is not even close to boring when it comes to the owners. For the owners its all about sales and theyre doing that vry well.

It is highly likely that in certain areas it will exceed the 350Z in capability. Pick-ups can be (made to be) quite light and it has a bigger engine than the 350Z which means a lot of torque.

Handling wise they can be rather good with the low-by-default centre of mass due to the ladder frame and the truck bed at the back - containing largely air. I can believe those figures, but brake wise, the 350Z should have the edge with the Brembos. Having said that, I rather doubt that it will handle as well as the Nissan. Although lateral grip capacity helps a lot, handling is more than that.

Goes to show what Toyota can do when they try. Somehow, they just can't seem to be bothered.

Oh, and firing Mike Gascoyne is a terrible idea.

I know what you mean there. Something about driving through deep, mucky, muddy stuff, or driving around/over big huge rocks is always fun. I lifted my 4runner 3" last month and put some 33s on it. It's now a comfortable and more than capable off roader. The gas mileage is a lot of fun now too since it's been lifted. (12-13ish)

Toyota isn't currently synonymous with performance, but if they ever do release the new Supra, they will regain a lot of performance enthusiasts. Because, one thing is for certain, if Toyota is going to build it, they will build it right. The new Supra will be top notch. (If they release it.) I will still be in love with the old MKIV Supra though....

They're finally dropping $$ into making Lexus more performance oriented because they see the immense market that BMW and MercBenz are enjoying with their luxu-performance cars. If they would make the IS350 and/or GS430 with the AWD and a 6 spd, those would be sweet cars, and possibly my next choices for cars.

We'll see what happens.

Just bought my wife a Toyota and now that we own one, I got to like it better than before.

I was never a fan of US Toyota design (except maybe Supra and MR2) but I think they did a great job on the new Camry.
In Europe they had cars like the hatchback Corolla and Verso which I liked so much better than the typical sedans sold in the US.

The Camry SE V6 is always underrated, I mean that engine is from the Lexuz RX 330. The car looks very sharp too, as well as being reliable, safe, and quiet.

Man, that Camry Solara is wicked awesome! I'm still angry that Toyota, a car company swimming in money, abandoned the sportscar market for most of this decade.

I agree.. they are freaking "family oriented" and not as hardcore as they were back then with the Supra & Celica.
