I don't see why Mitsubishi treats the Eclipse as its flagship sportscar. Just because it's mass produced here in the US and just because it comes in a spyder.. They barely even advertise the Evo and their dumb selves are asking themselves, why isnt the Evo selling?
I know mitsu reps browse the forum, so please you on-lookers can you please chime in and give a reason or something?
I went to MOD05 last year in cali, and talk to a guy (forgot his name) behind the 4G and he just kept "blah, blah, blah" about the design. I told him to his face
"This car is ugly and it look heavy... what is the curb weight?".
He had the most astound look on his face ever, lol. It was as if I spit on his child, I swear he wanted to chock me, lol. He than said,
"well it one of our better looking coupes (I thought... uh, your only coupe) and weight figures haven't been distribute yet"
Somebody please chime in, do you know the mitsu design team? Ray charles design better cars.

my only question is what weighs so much. the car is smaller than my srt but weighs 500+lbs more??? they should have put it on a diet, thrown the evo drive train in it and made a killing in teh coupe market!!! it could have been a 350z/rx8/mustang/etc killer!!!
I want the 07 Spyder, but it comes with a $400 a month insurance bill from my current provider + whatever my car payment would be... Geico gave me a 6 month premium of $7000 - thats not a typo, SEVEN THOUSAND
As some of you guys might know that the current Eclipse is the (continuation) design wise of the Eclipse of 2 generations back or the 2g Eclipse. Similar styling features. Round rear end etc. But with awd and turbo.
The 3g Eclipse the one with the 'scratches' on the sides was not a sales figure winner at all so they went back to what supposedly works. (Style wise) But they forgot about the awd and turbo part.
It was similar with the Honda Prelude. The last gen. before it was phased out was styled similar to the one that was 2 versions back.

I don't think that Mitsubishi needs an "Evo Coupe" in the form of an AWD turbocharged 4G63 Eclipse. It's just going to split sales of an already low production run car.
The Eclipse is Mitsubishi's second-best seller, and it's pretty expensive, so they must've done something right.
"March was a very strong month, particularly in the retail sector (up 41% from February), which is critical for the success of our dealers and our company," said President & CEO Hiroshi Harunari. "This consistent, month-over-month growth sets us up for dramatic sales increases in our new business year, which begins in April."
Galant was the volume leader at 2,521, up 32.8% from last month's volume.
Eclipse closed at 2,486 and was up 44.1% from last month's volume and up 71.2% from last March 2005's volume. This was the second best sales month for Eclipse in the past 30 months.
Endeavor closed at 1,290 and was up 51.9% from last month's volume.
The next generation base Lancer is what I'm wondering about. Mitsubishi needs to start getting some of those Civic/Corolla/Accent sales dollars. Fund the beast that makes the Evo.

Im not trying to offend mitsubishi or owners of the new eclipse but this is one of the most ugliest coupes EVER.
