Yeahhh.. that one^^^^ is a RS200. Superior rally performer on the late 80s.

They made two versions of it(escort Cosworth), the main difference was the turbo size. They were both rated at 227hp. I actually have one of the only few test done on the Escort Cosworth RS.

Great car, what a pity, I don't know why Ford has to do this stupidity market reduction, the Escort Cosworth was way better than the current Ford Focus RS turbo.

They also sold two lesse powerful Escorts, one was the RS 2000(2.0liter 150hp 16v) and a 1.6l RS turbo 132hp 8 valves.

The one on ebay is the last generation of Sierra cosworth. It came with Recaro seats stock. The body style of the Sierra are from back in 81-82 but it was a super seller.

I have the test of this specific car against the Toyota Celica AWD Turbo and the Lancia Delta Integrale HF AWD turbo. The magazine that I have the info is from 1992 and is called Automovil. Really good stuff.

All that I know is that they never met the international criteria to make enough to certify them as a "production car"

That's a Sierra Sapphire, not an Escort. Two completely different cars. The original Sierra made it to the states (sort of) in the form of the Merkur XR4ti. Still a cool car though.

I am going to have to jump here just to clarify you something and please don't think I am being an A S S but the Sapphire was a unique UK marketing edition.

As far is the Merkur XTR4-I that is a complete different car, they only share the bodystyle being the XTR4-I the first gen.

As far is the engine goes, there are not even related, the MERKUR was fitted with a 2.3l turbo charge and NO intercooler while the Sierra Cosworth all have the 2.0 liter Turbo, Two different engines There is a direct relation among the MERKUR XTR4-I and the mustang turbo 2.3l and the thunderbird 2.3 turbo from the early 80s.

...living in Europe 25 plus years gave me some good background on this cars.

Lancia had another rally version(Not the Integrale HF) but a similar style hatchback that also was rated at 600hp. I need to do some more research since I haven't seen the car in a car magazine in about 12-14 years.

Looking at the seller's other items up for bid, I saw this sweet little deal

Not bad for a ZR-1
