Nah, you'll be fine with just installing the exhaust you won't need a flash.

Bad news is I have a friend with an STi and he put on a turbo-back and had a UTEC tune and only made 300whp. You're going to be slow and in debt.

nope, I know some people with a tbe running catless on 05 sti's and they are running fine. Ya might be runnin a bit rich, so a flash or a tune would actually help out because ya gonna backfire like crazy, but I love that sound of a boxter 8- )

I gained 20whp/20wtq with a 3" TBE w/HFC on my 05 STi. The car did run pig rich though. I gained an additional 30whp/45wtq with an EcuTek flash. So yeah, you can do it, but you'll run rich and be missing out on the gains to be had with some EM (including better gas mileage!).

Yeah, that 360whp is just a TBE, DynoFlash and boost set at 22psi. No cams, no alky, no smoke and mirrors. Just bolt ons and tuning.

I'm a former WRX owner, that's why I feel strongly about the limitations of the WRX and STi. They take major amounts of $$ to do 1/2 of what the Evo (especially the IX) can do with bolt-ons. It's been said 1000 times before, but it bears repeating every time I see someone buy an STi and start to mod it. It's a money pit.

I'm coming from a 300whp vf22 WRX, so I'm not speaking out of school here. I know many "happy" STi owners that love their little 300whp cars until I show up. It's very sad for them.

This dude gained 50 whp from a flash and TBE to put him at 300whp. This is the same gain as you would expect on an 05 evo with the same mods.

OK, if you want to make more power, its going to be more money HP for HP than a evo, but this is still pretty fecking good for a TBE and tune {thumbup

Well rich is generally safe ... to a point. It probably wont do any harm, you will likely have a black tailpipe and bumper though. And your gas mileage will suck a bit more than stock. Under very rich conditions, I suppose you can suffer from bore wash, but I don't think that's something to worry about with a stock car and just TBE. I would seriously consider it a priority to get a good tune though. You're doing yourself a disservice in terms of easily obtainable extra performance for not too much extra $$$ with the tune ...
