Sign up (In January, for the event I posted) there will be LOTS of Honda's, Lots of Subies, Evos, Vettes,Vipers, etc.... Lets see how the hondas stack up in the drags/roadcourse in the same day. You will be on the IMPORT team, trying to defeat the DOMESTIC team, but there will still be interclass battles going on all day.

i used to have a 528whp/396wtq 92' hatch before my evo(yes, i drove it on the street quite often, probrably around 14K miles/year). that was on CAM2, on 93 it put down 374. with slicks(24.5x8), it was a beast, it ran 10.9 at 130. but on radials, not so good unless it was from a roll. even on my pump tune, it would smoke em' till 3rd or 4th gear(with a longer ratio LS trans). but from a rollin 60, it took out 3 streetbikes to 120(2 GSXR-600's, 1 GSXR-750). they are quite capable cars when done right, there's just too many ricers out there with fart cans and taillights from pep boys that give honda's a bad rap. however, for an all around everyday car, the evo has it beat. but it was fun having a car that handed most people their azz and showed alot of close minded people that not all honda drivers are ricers running 16's at the strip.

i have raced an EK turbo hatch (2000 lbs ) making 380whp, from the dig I put 2 bus lengths on him. we then raced from 60mph roll and it was too close for my liking. At that time my car was making 378whp (stock turbo) high 11's (3200 lbs).
Another night I raced a 93 coupe with a b20 turbo stock bottom 13psi making 340whp. killed him from the dig and from a roll.
what i am tring to say is 370whp on a fwd is not the same as 370 on a awd
( i have worked and tuned both honda's)

I love the light weight of the Civic, but that's about where my love for Honda ends. I grew up on RWD American Muscle, and have pretty much no respect for FWD whatsoever. I tried owning a FWD "performance" car in the form of a 2002 VW GTI 1.8T, and even in stock trim the torque-steer was more than present. It was obviously worse with some mods. I don't mind a slight tug like the one I get from the STi (just set the DCCD to "rear" and it's virtually eliminated), but the tug from a FWDer just ruins the experience for me.
I've thought long and hard about buying an extremely light car to modify, but anything extremely light with a RWD drivetrain is going to cost some serious dollars, unless it's in the form of a Factory Five kit car or something, in which I could probably build one for about $32,000, but that is still a nice lump of cash. Maybe I'll just modify a last generation Impreza 2.5 RS, as they weigh about 400-500 lbs less than the current STi/STI.

There's no reason to be rolling your eyes. Just because you don't have the experience to build a 370 whp Civic for $6000 doesn't mean someone else didn't. It's called, "being resourceful." Wanna hear a recipe?
1. Junkyard motor
2. Used turbo kit off of eBay
3. Friends (or connections) that work at machine shop for discounts on machine work
4. Car-savvy computer geek friend for the custom tune
Don't forget, injectors and a fuel pump don't cost a ton of money. They aren't cheap, but they aren't astronomically expensive either.
People have been known to build Mustangs, Firebirds, Camaros, etc. for $2000 and run 11s/12s with them. It can surely be done for $6000 with a 2300 lb Civic.

That's why you're only making just over 300 hp with your "wonder motor." Since you're so wise when it comes to modding cars, where's the power? And yes, we're all sure you've "seen it all." That's why everyone is just banging down your door begging you to mod their cars.
Lastly, you still haven't proven me wrong that it can't be done for $6000, and you won't.

Yeah, a 370whp Civic hatch is no joke. There is a kid around my area that has a civic hatch with about 350whp (car weighs around 2400lbs with him in it) wanted to race my friend evo from a dig, even offer him two car lenghts, needless to say my friend said no, because "if he's giving me car lenghts and I have awd, than it cant be good for me",
