Ls1 Rx7

sup guys.
whataya think my car is worth?
thinking about selling it.
I'll just put up some major points and the rest (ad nauseum) is on my website (sig).
1993 Mazda rx7 70k miles
professionally converted by hinson supercars www.hinsonsupercars.com
ls1 stroked to 370 cubic inches with baby cam. 400 rwhp, 410 rwtq.
not a junkyard motor. hand built with excellent parts, about 5k miles on it:

http://209.177.55.37/enginereceipt.htm

mazdaspeed coilovers
electron blue paint under 6 months old
r1 lip and spoiler
mostly tan interior, black 94 door panels
black leather seats
ssr comp wheels 8.5 front (245's), 9.5 rear (275's)
sony explod cd head unit, Polk 6x8 rears
custom oil cooler
hawk hp+ pads
set up for autocross and road racing, but ran 10.97 at 127 on DR's with 1.57 short time.
2730 lbs, 50.5 % front, 49.5% rear.
no ac, no ps installed but have the ps conversion ready to bolt in; might due it very soon.

just out of curiosity... how reliable is your car... i've always wanted to do something like that?

and what's the build cost of something like that minus the actual car cost?

cheers!

From what I've heard from people that have them -- it can be done for under $20k including the car. Not bad considering the performance and coolness factor.

its very reliable. i've taken it on the road course a few times, autocrossed about 10 twices (many with a co-driver), and drag raced it many times. and put about 4000 street miles on it. no issues.
well last time i drag raced with slicks, i broke the tranny mount. i had it re-welded with add'l gussets to make it stronger so won't happen again.

actual car cost varies so much depending on what you want to do.
stock ls1 motor and tranny with ECU can be around $5000.
or if you want modified motor about $10,000 depending on if you want to stroke it, cam, headers, intake, etc.
the rear costs a little bit to make it so strong. 300m axles are like 800. kaaz diff is about 1000. 3.90 gears are hard to find, and cost about 200 but most just use the stock 4.10's.
the conversion parts are like $3000 if you get hinson radiator and alum driveshaft. you can use stock exhaust manifolds or pay like 800 for headers, 400 for y pipe, i think cold air intake is like 300.
tuning software is like 500.
paint? 4000 and up.
coilovers? wheels? you know how much those are.
seats? radio? depends on the builder.

these aren't cheap but for the money can beat on cars costing many times more than the total build cost. and they look pretty damn hot and are kinda rare nowadays.

scott yo - i'm in central NJ, near bridgewater. we autocross at giants stadium often so meet there and i can give you a ride. www.motorsportsne.com

I have been looking for one to look at recently. Give me your phone number and I will get my dad to come down and check it out. What are you looking for and would you be interested in any trades?

We live in Warren so we are 15 min apart max, def want to come see it.

A guy in my car club (the orange 2'nd gen in my avatar) had a gt35r turboed 13b. he blew it this summer and is doing an LS1 swap now. Its failry easy, as far as fitting the motor and tranny goes. There is a lot of little stuff that has to be done. Brackets/mounts are made for the swap. He bought a 2002 ls1 out of a firebird but the company sent him a 98 (hes working on this issue now). Hes doing it because its reliable power. He plans to supercharge it.

That 3'rd gen is sexy for sure.
