Would you buy Elise over Evo
ok... elise = bare bones car... there arent even any friggin cupholders... not to mention you have to be tiny as hell to drive one, and that they have a crappy toyota engine... nothing great about this car except its looks and the fact that its extremely lightweight... evo > elise

But to say that there's nothing great about the Elise except its looks and its weight is absurd because it gives no credit to the chassis and the suspension--which are what have always made Lotuses special.
You know, I've had 2 evos prior to driving the elise. For me I loved the evo, practical and extreme driving machine. The only thing else that I would have considered was an elise. As a matter of fact I had thought for sure I would own one.
So on my honeymoon to Vegas I rented one for a week. It looked even better in person. But I didn't realize until I got in it how much the interior was sparce and more "track car" like. This didn't bother me, I thought it was cool. I'm 5'10" and 180 and the car fit great. But man, when the top is on, I didn't realize that it would be that difficult to get in and out of this car. Getting in the car, I looked like someone who was trying to put on a shirt that was 2 sizes to small. Getting out of the car, it looked like the car was giving birth to me and I was trying to squeeze out of the womb.
I have to admit, you do feel like a celebrity in this car. Everyone looks, points, stares, and comes to ask you questions. Great car for a single person! Which really popped up that little cloud above my head invisioning driving this car around the Vegas strip and being a SINGLE guy!!!
We took a 2 hour drive out to Zion park. Car cruised great. Seats felt good and I drove 90 the majority of the way and it felt effortless. Of course this is a major handling car which I didn't get to test out much bet was extremely impressive. What I also found to be a negative for me, visibility. Hard to see out the back and sides of this car. But I understood why and did not have high expectations.
But visibility and getting in and out of the car were my 2 major deterents for me. Eventhough I only drive my evo for fun days, I still like the ability to take it to town, go to the store or movies and enjoy it whenever I can which would be difficult with the elise, again for me. But I did like feeling like a "superstar" when I drove it around town.

You can't compare an EVO to an elise.
The EVO is a sports sedan, and the elise is a true sports car.
Yes getting into/out of the elise is a hassle, yes it's small, yes it's noisy, yes it's not practical.
But go drive one, and you will see why it's probably the best handling car out there period. I've never driven a car that gives you so much feedback like the elise and makes you feel so aware of what a pure driving experience really is.
At its price point, you won't find anything more fun.

i personally like the looks of the elise over the evo, looks like a car much more expensive than what it really is, aside from that the evo can beat the base elise on everything and it cost less, dealer price for base elise around 42,000. It is also hard to have as daily driver. It also is very delicate, parts like the shifter, and rear toe link have to be changed if you want to launch hard on it. And safety wise it is pretty dangerous and costly. Getting rear ended on that car with a relatively low speed can cause big damage. Rear clam is about 8ks. For a weekend car it's the best choice. Feels like perfect harmony with the road (a$$ is about 4 inches of it) lol
