Comparing two totally different cars is pointless. You will never end up with an absolute outcome. An opinion is not a fact. If I had 70K I would buy a C6 Z06.

 

I don't know, over the years I've come to realize that "grown-up" cars -- like McMansions -- are pretty much bullsh¡t. Less is definitely more. I'd love to have an RS4 Avant, but I certainly wouldn't trade my Evo for it.

For some one who doesn't own either you defend the Audi pretty fiercely. Oh, by the way regarding the econobox roots thing You do know that any of the Audi _4's share their foundations with a Volkswagen right? Basically the RS4 is the Evo of VAG just more well appointed and not as fast.

That's where I have a problem. You can't tell me that the RS4 costs $30K-40K more to build than an average A4. Why the hell is it so expensive? I think more people would like the RS4 if it were at the S4's price point. I personally feel the game has moved on and they don't offer enough for the money. I know if the S4 I drove this weekend was as fast as the RS4 I rode in I could forgive the lack of involvement in the driving experience and just about justify the price to myself.

BTW, for someone who is 28 (the same age I am) you seem to be pretty immature judging by your posts

 

"Grownup" cars are bs because of the price though.. its not like if there was a luxurious nice looking audi awd car that was similiar priced to the evo with equal performance plenty of owners wouldnt switch... but once you get over the 50K price range, to me spending that much on a commuter car is dumb.. your putting money into something that will decrease in value! the grownup thing to do is buy some real estate....

 

Wow. I am overcome by your amazing powers of logic. Your right. The Rs4 is crap, the Evo is the most amazing car in the world. Its almost as bad as The Srt-4 forums in here lately.

Oh. For someone making the declaration that the Evo is the faster car therefore the best car, shouldnt be making assumptions about other peoples maturity levels. You know the saying, "Those who cast stones, shouldnt live in glass houses." I felt that way about cars when I was twelve.

The Rs4 is the better car. My opinion. Im sticking to it. Im done with this thread.

 

Hotrod2448's post did not mention anything about the Evo being superior to the RS4. He was just talking about the price tag, which he found to be too high, and point out the faults in your argument about Evos being of "econobox roots." According to your logic, the M5 is nothing more than a family sedan and the RS4 is a Jetta equipped with a V-8.

Please, the more sensible people would recognize that the RS4 is a great car and has a lot more to offer compared to the Evo - which it should considering that the Evo is only half the price of a RS4. Some of us just feel that it doesn't offer enough for $70,000 - an idea that you seem to totally reject.

Another thing: When I turn 28, I certainly hope I have kept, if not improve, my ability to read and comprehend English instead of blatantly putting words in other people's mouth as a form of argument to satisfy my curious obsession with a particular car.

 

I looked at the RS4... for about 3 seconds and then realized that the out of pocket money I'd have to spend to get into one was better spent modding my M3.

Add a supercharger, coilovers, Brembo BBK and BBS LMs and I'll still be $15K short of what I'd spend on a stock RS4. Oh wait, damn, I don't have AWD. Oh well, I'll take 50/50 weight dist. instead.

I kow this discussion is about "stock for stock" but if I had my druthers, I'd buy a used S4 and throw a supercharger on it along with some Stasis bits and goodies.

 

Not one of your posts has had merit and not once have you listened to anyone else. When an outside source was quoted you dismissively said "Written by a bunch of idiots, like any other car magazine now adays."

Nobody actually said "the Evo is the faster car therefore the best car". You have repeatedly put words in other people's mouths in a vain attempt to back up your agrument. What, however, has been said repeatably is that the Evo is dynamically a better driver's car. This is not blind "Fanboi"ism but rather based on experience and numerious, numerious articles and opinions from educated people.

In regards to "assumptions" -- I believe that seems to be your mantra. This is especially the case since you have not been able to back up one single claim. Repetition does not make an argument.

What you truly fail to grasp is that most of us like the RS4. It, however, is just not to the caliber of the Evo.

I really tried to figure out what you meant by this and how this expression applied to you being 12. It seems to flow about as well as the rest of you logic

I saw the RS4 and I thought it was a heck of a machine. I really like the aerodynamics in that car and the inside is just really nice, that I had to ask the guy how much would my monthly payments be if I traded in the evo and put 10grand down? lol, still wasn't affordable

No one has said the Evo is the better car. F*ck, can you not read I said I drove an S4 looking for a replacement for it. I'm trying to sell mine for christ sake. If I really truly thought there was not a better car available do you think I would be out test driving vehicles?

What I did say was that while the RS4 may be a suitable replacement for the Evo it's WAY too expensive for ME to justify. I said if it were closer to S4 pricing I would probably buy one.

You are the only one casting stones. As a matter fact you seem to be about the only one harping on the whole Evo vs. RS4 ****e and bringing it up over and over. Why is that? Troll?

 

Why is everyone comparing the RS4 to a Porsche or Corvette? The RS4 is a luxury performance Sedan (4 doors and over 4000lbs)!! Yes, the Evo is a 4 door sedan, but not in the terms of the RS4. (The Evo is a freak 4 door machine with no frills). Can anybody name a 4 door sedan that offers the luxury and performance of the RS4? Before you answer, don't even say BMW M3 (There's not much luxury, or room in the M3).
Anyways, with all that being said, I've had an M3, S4, and Vette. I Love the Evo more than all those!!
