2008 Subaru Impreza WRX | [MERGED]
It really is. Its almost as if the whole development team quit or died or something. I appreciate the rivalry, and I was looking foward to them at least trying to make a better car, and then having it dicked on by the X - but now, it seems, they aren't even puttting up a fight. Its as if Toyota has taken over already. A homely, plain vanilla wrapper and nothing new or exciting on the inside.
It just struck me that there is no longer any reason for anyone to buy a Subaru.
It looks (as GPTourer said) like a bloody Toyota, so why not just buy a Toyota?
It just looks so mundane and boring that there's really no particular reason why it's different to any of the milllions of Corolla-ites on the market. I always felt the Subaru 'thing' is about being intelligent and unique in terms of desing, engineering and technology plus the rally-bred appearace. I would imagine that they rely more on the sales of the Impreza WRX ans STi than other brands rely on their 'performance' models (such as Mitsu on the Evo) so to bring out such a sloppy bucket of $hit of a car (compared to its old self) would seem to indicate a change of strategy. IMO it's a totally wrong one. Perhaps its gearing up to be bought by somebody.
And if they think people give a crap about the whole 'Symmetrical AWD' and 'Boxer sound' thing, they've got something else coming. I'm an engineer and I'm very geeky about engineering stuff. But as long as it's quick, drives and to a certain extent looks good, I don't care if it's 1 wheel drive and has the engine is on its roof spinning upside-down.
Sorry, been drinking too much coffee again...

i hope this is just an extended April fools joke or something...and at the very last second before selling this car they will be like:
"Surprise! Here is the all new Subaru Impreza with a sedan body, no cheap-Chrysler-like grill, no Ultraman-like taillights, and no wheels that look like we just learned how to use Catia!"

2008 WRX = Mazda 3
I was in Barnes and Noble looking for new magazines to buy and saw that Road and Track had the 2008 WRX on their cover. Not only does the new Lancer resemble a Mazda 6 but they have made the new WRX look a lot like a Mazda 3. Here is the link:
