Engineers are actually able to do some pretty amazing things now with thermoplastics. I'm a bit surprised we haven't seen more composite stock or aftermarket manifolds instead of the fabricated or cast aluminum peices. Heat rejection, cost, and weight are advantageous factors for thermoplastics.

Also, I thought Pininfarina was supposed to be helping subie out with the new designs? There are aspects of the car that, in isolation, I think look a bit better. However, in total, I agree that this car is a huge step in the wrong direction.

I guess Subaru really is turning the WRX into a hatch, with a sedan as an option. Somebody from the Subaru forum snapped some photos of a 08 WRX test mule, check it out. Some updates, but seriously I just don't like it .

Looks good with some wheels on it....i dont even particularly like those wheels either lol. But it still looks good.....thats a six speed shift knob off of the spec c type ra or whatever alphabet soup name Subaru calls it in Japan.....I wonder if the reg WRX will be getting a six speed.

Plus I dont think this is a tester...wtf would they put gram lights with blue lug nuts on a tester?!

Saw the sedan at the NY autoshow. It looks horrid. Probably performs well though.

 

yea... youre right. the headquarters is in Cherry Hill... i duno, for some reason i was thinkin that was a dealer plate and forgot about the headquarters but yea... i think thats the production model... it looks like its someone's who works there... they probably got first crack at one before they hit the showrooms it is growing on me though... just like the evo x.... im sure its better than the one its replacing...

What strange mixing of auto DNA occured to produced that parthetic attempt to appease the Subie's crowd pignose haters - I never thought I'd hear myself say this - But I'd buy the 07 before that thing. Total lack of originality. what are those guys at Subie smoking? I mean you had all those great looking WRX & STi's (the bug eye and the turtle, even the earlier Impreza's) and then these last 2 ???

I mean it looks great for a Kia or Hundai - but for a Subie? Please ...

Well Subie is going to be dammed if they do dammed if they dont.

If they got all crazy and designed a totally different car there would be a million yuppie fa6s running around complaining that it was too extreme, or too futuristic or too hard core or yada yada ya.

If they make it with subtle styling, and make it similar to other cars that outnumber the WRX in sales by about 30,000 to 1. Then they have all the wanna be race car "purists" running around crying how it isint original enough.

The car has been around for over 100 years now. There are only so many ways to re-design a 4 door sport compact. This isint minority report where we have crazy bubble shaped Lexus'.

Subaru has to do whatever it has to do to sell cars, and make money.

 

That rear end fails at life. The front might look good with a bumper that doesn't look like it is smiling at you. The rear tails just look like something that import show cars would use back in 97'.

 

wouldn't a hatch only have 2 doors? ... i'd consider it a wagon still since it has 4 doors... but yeh .. it looks funny..
