Yes they make a convertible Eclipse which is the Eclipse Spyder.

Spyder = Convertible

I'm still puzzled by your question.

I agree the only way to have a convertable eclipse is to buy a spyder. As we all remember the 3000GT VR4 spyder was the hard top convertable. I guess Mitsu does that to sound cool.....

Uh.

In case you didn't get it, I'll reiterate.

a car being called "SPYDER" means "CONVERTIBLE."

Much like the Toyota MR-2 SPYDER.

Well there are only 3 cars currently using the name "Spyder." Which are the Eclipse Spyder, MR2 Spyder, and Maserati Spyder.

Maybe more but that's all I can recall.

I forgot about those others so how about we just say that there are car manufacturers use the word "spyder" to reference convertables

Ok well i didnt mean to pose a stupid question eh...
anyway I know that a spyder refers to a convertible, what i was asking is if all eclipse convertibles carry the spyder name.
And in fact i pose this question because i was having a dispute with someone about it... i said that all convertible eclipse were spyders while he insists that he has seen some that arent.
thanks.

The answer is no, a Mitsubishi convertible is a Spyder, or at least has been since 1995 starting with the 3000GT and continuing in 1996 with the Eclipse until now.

Legwork done. Try http://www.edmunds.com next time.

You didn't need to do any leg work, but thanks i guess.
I was simply looking for confirmation of my own beliefs, I thought someone might just be able to say yes or no. Im sorry if you were inconvienced. sheesh.
And to LancerEvolution; that's exactly what I was trying to convince him of, thanks.

That's what we do around here, though. Why give an inaccurate answer when the info's right there? :P
