the 1 series is going to be awesome. design wise, the car is definitely appealing to the eye, if there is one gripe, its the sweeping side panel. It looks a bit wierd and plays with your eyes.

btw, the interior for the tii looks like ***.

It is too early to compare them yet because the first couple of test the Evo X hasn't had really favorable acceleration numbers and that is why I am being conservative with my comments. What is no mistery is that the 135I put a very very high reference to beat(everything).

I am hoping for the best and I am still waiting for a good Evo X road test in which we can see some sub 5 sec 0-60mph and some low 13 sec 1/4 mile times..

I don't want to ruin no ones dreams but I am one of the many thousands of Evo X fans that were expecting a mid 12 sec 1/4 car and a mid 4 sec 0-60mph times, so far it hasn't happened yet nor it looks like it would occur in stock trim.

So many Evo 9 owners skepticals about the Evo X and after all they had all the rights to have their reservations..

I agree with you Carlos on one fact, I believe the 135i and EVO X will become direct competitors with one another. I would love to compare both cars but I still believe it is a tad bit early to do so. Was I expecting mid 12s out of the EVO X, perhaps, but I also was expecting 12s out of the 135i and that doesn't look like that will be happending either. In fact the 135i looks like it will be just marginally quicker than a 335i. There still remains a lot of unanswered questions on both sides. Such as the official MSRP for 1 series in the USA and the official MSRP for EVO Xs (sorry speculation from dealerships doesn't count and if you don't expect a markup on 135i also then your kidding yourself). Also don't know the official HP rating for the EVO X. The 295hp/300tq remains an estimate, but honestly doesn't matter till the car gets on a dyno because Mitsubishi always rates the hp low. As far as road test, will still have no conclusive evidence on that front either. I know people love to qoute the 5.0/13.8@102mph time, but I do not think the magazine had the opportunity to properly test a production model. My point is I'd wait and see until we get a lot more info on both cars until we start to compare. Also I do not believe there are so many EVO IX owners that are so skeptical of the EVO X, there are some haters who seem to shower each and every thread involving the EVO X with there unlegitimate BS. But there are more people who find the EVO X interesting than you think. Last thing, the 09 STI is gonna be , sorry people even BMW knows that high end hatches don't sell. That is exactly why the 135i is coming here as a coupe and not a hatch like it is in Europe. Guess Subaru missed the memo.

I want to see what the actual wieght of the 135 will be. The 335 is only something like 70ibs lighter than the 535. I'm not sure the 135 will be as light as people think. A significant weight advantage is the only reason I'd pick a 135 over a 335.

Jarrod,

This is good news to me. I sent a PM to David Buschur a few months ago encouraging him to get involved into the BMW market, specifically the 135i, 335i and 535i since they all have the same twin turbo powerplant.

I am putting the word out about this truly amaizing car, forget about the name BMW, this car is just fast out of the box and a shop like Buschur Racing could easily turn this car into a great performance ride.

Please, go and get yourself a 135i so that we can all benefit of the Buschur R&D.

The latest news as of today is that someone with a 335i just trapped 113mph with just a flash and a mixture of 98oct gas. Another tuner broke the 400whp barrier with a cat back and a tune/piggyback. A few 335i owners are running 12.4s with minor mods, give it more time and we will soon see the 12 flat, needless to say that the 135i suppose to edge out the 335i .

Carlos

It's 198 lbs according to BMW. That's for US models with manual trans.

335i coupe: 3571 lbs
135i: 3373 lbs

So does anyone have any ideas as to when pricing details will be available, even a ballpark?

Just for the record, Vishnu just blasted a 116.8mph trap on his on 335i (same powerplant as the 135i will have) with not so good 60' times(2.0 sec ).

If the Evo X is not your cup of tea then the 135i will reward you for sure, I am putting all my credibility on this car(135i). I know for a fact that this car will put many smiles on many peoples faces.

BMW Press released announced a $35600 MSRP for the 135i and $29 and some change for the 128i (I don't recommend this car despite is a good car, save up $5k and get the real 21 century Supra Replacement).

$35,675 to be exact . Options have also been released. For a well spec'd out model, one is looking at 40-41K. To say the least, I can't wait .

Yeah but we are stilltalking MSRP. Even without options the car comes very well equipped:

6 speed
moonroof
HID lights
6 airbags
cruise control
bad a s s stereo
multifuntion on board computer(monitors all fluid levels, fuel parameters, maintenance inspections, blah, blah blah)
4 year bumper to bumper warranty with everything included except tires(fluids, belts, rotors, pads), etc
The list goes on and on

awesome gas mileage
low insurance
great retail value
and last but not leasta true pocket rocket performance wise

This is a car that for $349 dollars you can purchase a ECU module and be deep in the 12's and traps of around 110mph. You guys can hold me accountable for my statements, this car will not dissapoint anyone.

Don;t forget 6 pot brakes up front, and 4 pot in the rear.

Who are you trying to sell this car to anyways ? I'm already sold, only thing under debate is to ED or not .
