Subaru STI WRC CAR BLEH
From Toyota Corolla to Ford focus hatchback
Next month in Frankfurt, we'll all get our first looks at Subaru's new WRC car in the form of the Subaru WRC Concept. The automaker will have driver Petter Solberg on hand for the introduction of the racer, which for all intents and purposes shows us what the next-gen Impreza WRC car will look like. It should also offer a very strong hint at the styling of the forthcoming Impreza STI. The STI grille, big wing and bulging bodywork do the new Impreza some good, as this looks worlds better and far more aggressive than the soft-looking standard car. Subaru has released no details other than the two images you see here. Rest assured, our Frankfurt team will bring you the full scoop from the floor in Germany next month.

They like the short piping it gives them. At the NAIAS earlier this year, I noticed that on the WRC car, they relocate the intercooler towards the front of the car. It's still a topmount, but not directly over the engine. Probably can't do that on the retail model due to crash reasons or something.

so, you're saying it has a chance at winning a WRC title again...
It NEEDS to be a hatchback to win in WRC... it's like the winning formula lately... hatch = WRC titles.
Let's take a look back at some of the big WRC heavyweights:
Rover 6R4
Lancia Delta Integrale and S4
Toyota Corolla WRC (and then they cheated, those bastids)
Ford Focus
Citroen C4 (Citro-who? )
Citroen Xsara (who ARE these people! </seinfeld>
Peugeot 206
Peugeot 205 (ok, I'm reaching)
Renault 5

I cant stand the new look of the sti hatch but its that kinda car that performs well in the WRC.

Don't forget the CP9A. The Evo 6 faired amazing with Tommi winning four consecutive victories, which was a sedan, also the 2003 (or 04?) Rally was one by Petter Solberg in his WRX.
