latest rumors say the base and only model will have 550 HP. There are 3 different trim models, but the 550 hp is the number. I have no idea what's going on, but the car will probably be too heavy for me to be very interested.

hmm you might say that fan boys "hype" up this car alot and yes they do i agree but ask yourself one question when has Nissan ever dissapointed you with a GT-R im not worried the car isnt out yet so all we can do is look at the companies past accomplishments and hope the new model equals or surpasses the benchmarks of the past.

As far as know, the GT-R/Skyline has never been here...so I'd say they haven't pleased me or disappointed me. They have been overly hyped up by the ricer crowd so if you didn't know any better you'd think they ran 0-60 in 3.5, 1/4 in 11.5 and the 'ring in 7:30. I guess people just tend to hype up and lust over things they can't have. Now it's here so I'm ready to see what it'll do.

$68,000 USD

overpriced...

Would rather buy a $10,000 evo IX roller + $58,000 in mods.

Trust me I can afford a gt-r, but I am not going to buy something just because I can afford it. No way in hell that car is worth $68k. There are so many cars that you could build to outperform the gt-r for half or even a fraction of the price.

^ yeah that might be so, but if your not into racing your car, then building wouldn't do you any good....

If it runs around 7:35 in an non evo version, i am sold.
I got that email did you read my post? Nissan also said back in the day that R34 would turn a 7.59 and didn't even come close. I have severe doubts that a 3500lb anything with 450hp could turn a 7.35 with street tires.

Until people take a bone stock GTR on the ring with street tires I don't believe this claim unless there are many more hidden details. We'll see I hope the car is awesome I would love to buy one if it performs. Like I said before I just don't believe the hype.

WTF...

Who the f..k buys a gtr and isn't into racing... Sorry not trying to sound like an ***, but that is what the car is designed for. Not sitting in rush hour traffic. With $68k I could take just about any chassis and make it out perform a gt-r. Building a car yourself will always be better, and it doesn't mean you can't dd the car.

FD + $58 in mods > gt-r
S13 + $67 in mods > gt-r
73 240z + $67 in mods > gt-r
73 911 + $58 in mods > gt-r

I could go on and on listing cars that could be built to not win but destroy a gt-r.

You wouldn't even need close to that amount in mods either to do it.

Plus all the fun of picking each part to build your perfect car, and doing all the work yourself. I don't know maybe it's just me, maybe I have built too many project cars. I just never see myself buying a new high performance car when there is so many rollers out there just waiting to be built.

Don't get me wrong I can't wait to see the car on the road.

With that thought process, you should never buy a new car ever again.

You're not helping this discussion at all, you're obviously not in the market. Go away.

This may be one of the dumbest all-time comparisons I have ever seen on EvoM. I mean hell, you could have the pick-up truck that guy that raced in the One Lap, but who the hell wants it?

Yeah, you know I'm trying to decide between a '93 RX-7, an S-13, a '73 240Z or 911, and an '07 GT-R. WTF? What planet are you from? With this kind of logic, you're laughing at Porsche's business model...except they're the most profitable car company in the world.

If you think the GT-R is over priced, go by an antique 240Z and have fun at your automotive flea markets.

An AWD, FI, TTV6 500hp car with amazing styling and 1/2 the price of a 997TT is perfect in my book.

The reporters with a stopwatch timed it around 7:38, so the info was not given away by nissan (dont know about the 7:35 remark though). Anyway, if it runs around 7:40 on street tires it is extremely fast. The new gt2 runs 7:32, with low semi slick's and Walter behind the wheel, which by itself takes some seconds off . In a month or so, it will be all know, since the gt-r's first showing at the tokyo auto salon. I hope it is as good as the hype says it is.

I never have and never will buy a new car they are overpriced.

Look at the links I have posted. What have you done to help in this discussion.

I also was the first to post the projected price of $68k.

Discussion is in bold because that is what this is. Everyone hail the great gt-r, god forbid someone offers a different option. F..cking weak.
