Also, according to what I found, the 2000 R34 GTR listed for about $90k, so the current model price is even better.
Take a look at Top Secret's future plans for the R35.http://www.nissangtrclub.com/showthread.php?t=285
I think GTR's will be modded as long as GTR's roam the earth. It's always been a car for a higher class than EVO owners and that has not changed. I am extremely excited for the car.

Robert, I agree with the 60k cars and such.....
Im actually not overly concerned with the numbers. if I ever wind up, hopefully in the near future, with the money to afford a GTR, Im sure there is a way to get one, in one way or another.
It just seemed that the car has...I don't know, its very hard to explain how I feel.
I was hoping it was going to be a lot meaner....a lot leaner, but in a world like today you just can't appeal to the masses with a car like the Evo, in a 70k dollar package.
But thats what Im talking about......the car is confusing, it seems like they want it to appeal to a broad variety of people, but yet it has a snarling v6 under the hood and go-fast goodies out the wazoo....yet the category they are targeting, has cars that even though are more expensive, have a harder edge (ala z06, the new ZR-1, Porsche Turbo and so on)
I never thought the r34 was a 90k car, I always remembered it being a 45-50k car outfitted pretty well, but then again, my sources are the internet.
I guess what I am saying is, I don't see s significant portion of high HP drag cars, and race cars coming about from this platform, yet a lot more semi high hp cars, and more "VIP" style cars coming around (shudders)
Who knows?
All I know is that I've heard 6,000 a year will be produced and allocated across the globe.
Considering Nissan was bragging about its full capacity, highly efficient process that could make 1,000 cars a month, and this is their flagship, doesn't it seem backwards to make this car so exclusive?
I dont know, we shall see. I can only hope I get the opportunity to drive one, and in the next year, own one.

Its lost all of its glory, as far as Im concerned.
Gone is the rugged, bad-*** look with an indestructible motor and aftermarket prowess.
Function dictated form, and Nissan is trying to imply that they kept that credo with it, but I just don't see it.
Nissan has come to think of itself as much more than those who can create one hell of a sports car, they seemingly regard themselves as someone who is within the ranks of Porsche and Ferrari.
They've built a car so far out of the reach of becoming a car that can be made unique to each individual....
Like the Evo, they are moving up the ranks and making a car that appeals to a bigger range and a more focused, down to earth range of people at that.
But with both companies, in doing so...they have FORGOTTEN US!
That is, the people who have MADE these cars the legends they rest on.

Also, Robert, I found some concrete numbers....so maybe Nissan has finally taken the highly exclusive road.
The numbers for the R32 were 43,934
R33-16,422
R34-11,310, and 7301 of those were VSpecs
These numbers included all models, special editions and the like.
Considering the decrease from 44k cars to just over 11k, I would say that it seems about right that the R35 will see under 10k cars totally produced until a major remodel......
But the one thought I had.....considering the demand by the globe....I just cannot see why Nissan would make it more difficult to get a legally sold, brand new R35,
than an earlier, LHD version.
Don't know what the mission is, but I Thought this car was going to be a car they spread out, and would show everybody how much *** they planned on kicking, from every angle.
Instead we got a elitist, uber car.

How can you all be talking down on this car?! This is a crowning achievement for a Japanese manufacture! This car has had more R&D than most cars! It's been 6 years in the making!
Honestly, if you still want to get any GT-R, you are gonna pay out the a$$ for getting the car here and then to mod and maintain a 480 HP car....Good luck. If you need parts, you will wait a long time and pay large sums of money.
If you buy one of the R35s fully loaded, yes it may have more "luxuries" than the previous generations but it will compete and possibly defeat a Z06 or Porsche for a comperable or lesser price.
And the cool factor is still there! This car looks like the wheels will tuck underneath and the car will take off like a spaceship. It is a very brawny looking car. Attractive from every angle.
And it retains a FACTORY WARRANTY.
We have wanted this for so many years. Let's not spoil it with small personal preferences that haven't been met. Look at it for what it is. It is (in many ways) an evolution of the species.
I'm excited as all hell to see and drive one.

Tru, I can see where you're coming from. I have been foaming at the mouth for this car for 7 years now, since they even said they were working on a major overhaul.
I'm not really knocking the car, it really is an engineering marvel.
I just feel that its missing what it once was. Its a knockout, and its badass....but I just would rather not see it as a supercar, even though thats what its become.
I just don't like Nissan's approach to the whole thing....too big for their britches....
But hey, likewise...if anyone here gets a GTR....I would basically....well, I don't know what I would do, but it'd be something drastic for a ride, and something even crazier to drive one.
Keeping my fingers crossed.

But getting right down to it, mostly what Im concerned about is the fact that we may only be getting a very limited amount of these cars....considering how long we've waited........
For the first time in my life I just may be able to afford car like this. I don't know yet....but it seems like a big possibility.
All I need is for God to spite me and have all supposed 1500 units a year, over the next however many years, sold out....
Seems silly, I know...but I thought we'd see a good amount of these cars running about, and plenty of them at the tracks and such.....

Nissan's not gonna just dive into the market and produce the car as if it were a 350Z. This car has importance and meaning. Plus, you have to consider, this car has very stiff competition. I can tell you I've had several debates on whis car is better. Z06 or R35. I would take the R35 anyday! But this is America and the Z06 is a crazy car.
If you have the money to buy one of these. You have other options as well.

It could be as fast as the space shuttle, it's still UGLY
I will be interested though to see the real numbers when it gets here.

I figured I'd throw my two cents in her.
I always liked the earlier skyline for the same reason I fell in love with the Evo and the C5 corvette. All these cars were much cheaper than cars from most other manufacturers with similar performance. They did this with a willful sacrifice to the frills and annoying automatic fluff I find myself disabling in anything I drive. The cars were focused performance cars whose wllfully flimsy interiors were scoffed at by the rich and the magazine editors.
Nobody rich and dumb would buy them because there were "better" alternatives that simply cost more. This makes the Evo, C5 Z06 and R34 elitist in a different, more dynamic way that makes the fanboys drool and the uninitiated think twice. The reason I exclude the Evo X, C6 'Vette and the R35 is the concessions they've all made to comfort, NVH and driveablitly.

-to everyone else,
The new gtr might not be like the old gtr's, but the evo X did the same thing, just nissan did it 40 million times better with a bigger price tag. I would buy one for sure as long as I had my one car I could mod and keep making better.
